Teddi Mellencamp Living With Kyle Richards Is the ‘Best Case’ for ‘Both’ Amid Separate Marriage Woes

Kyle Richards and Teddi Mellencamp had a ton of romantic drama to deal with in 2024, but they’re helping each other heal while moving in together and putting negativity to one side in favor of fun and friendship, an insider exclusively tells In Touch.

“Kyle has always been like a big sister to Teddi, so this is a best case situation for them both in this scenario. Teddi is absolutely in need of some support, regardless of the circumstances. The loss of her marriage to [Edwin Arroyave] and life partner of so many years is very, very hard,” the insider tells In Touch. “Kyle is further on the journey of this whole divorced life and can guide her.”

Although Teddi’s current living situation helps soften the blow of her divorce, it’s also “great for Kyle to have Teddi around.”

“This has been a huge time of change for [Kyle] too, there are times she gets lonely so having Teddi around is a great blessing,” the insider says of Kyle’s separation from estranged husband Mauricio Umansky. “They’re having a lot of fun, every night is girls’ night in. They have other friends over and just chill out with good food. They’re working out together, shopping, going to spas together. There are still feelings to work through with their exes but having each other to lean on is helping so much.”

On December 5, Teddi, 43, shared that she’s spending half of her time at Kyle’s while she and Edwin, 47, take turns living in their shared home while “nesting” with kids Slate, 12, Cruz, 9, and Dove, 4.

“This is how you know there are real friendships to be made [on reality TV],” Teddi said during an episode of the “Diamonds in the Rough” podcast at the time. “I was like, ‘Am I gonna get a place to live?’ I just zip on over, it’s close, easy. She cooks. Sometimes. We’re just starting. We’re newly into it.”

Days later, In Touch exclusively reported that it was the Halloween star’s “idea” for Teddi to move into her newly empty nest temporarily.

The former RHOBH costars became roommates after Teddi filed for divorce from Edwin on November 1 after 13 years of marriage. One day after filing the documents, she shared the news with fans via Instagram.

“After a great deal of care and consideration, I have made the difficult decision to file for divorce. My priority is my children and ensuring that every care is taken with their privacy and wellbeing throughout this new chapter,” the former Bravo star wrote in the November 2 statement. “Making a public statement is not something I wanted to do but in an effort to protect my family from undue speculation and rumors, I felt being open, honest and vulnerable was the best path forward.”

As for Kyle’s marriage woes, she and Mauricio, 54, have yet to file for divorce after separating in 2023. Following their split, the Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip alum sparked dating rumors with close friend Morgan Wade, which both women have denied. Mauricio, for his part, has sparked dating rumors with a handful of women and started dating now ex-girlfriend Nikita Kahn in July. The actress broke up with Mauricio in December because she didn’t want to enter a “committed, serious relationship,” she told Page Six at the time.
