Social media app Telegram has rolled out a new update which brings video improvements along with more chat features. So, if you use Telegram, this is going to be an important upgrade. With the update the company has added faster loading, better quality and new speed controls to videos, last edit timestamps, attaching media to sent messages, increased limits for mini apps, new monetization options for developers – and much more.

As per Telegram’s latest blog post the video player now automatically picks a quality level based on your connection for newly posted videos to big channels, saving data and loading videos faster. Users can also manually pick their chosen quality level: High, Medium, or Low.

Moreover the chat app now also allows large channel owners to post better-quality videos without pre-processing them. The platform optimises each uploaded video for users and compresses it in various qualities. This lets users with weaker connections enjoy compressed videos, while those with high-speed internet can enjoy full resolution.

The new Telegram update now also gives users access to control playback speed without tapping through settings by holding down on the right side of a video, accelerating by 2x, sliding right to increase it to 2.5x, and releasing the finger to return to normal speed. On Android, you may skip 10 seconds by double-tapping the left or right side of the video.

In addition, if you fail to include your media in your sent messages, you can simply revise them with two taps, avoiding the need to delete and restart. A very handy feature.
Aside from that, the last edit timestamps for edited messages now show the date of the last edit and, if the message has been edited several times, the most recent edit time. The messages you send in small groups and private chats additionally contain complete read receipts, which indicate the moment each user opens your message.

Group and channel owners may now utilise the #hashtag@username format to create chat-specific hashtags, allowing users to view posts and stories from the same chat when they tap. Users may rapidly add the chat’s username to the hashtag in the public chats’ message bar. This feature provides consistent results across all channels. Global hashtag searches include only public posts and stories.

Telegram Ads now allows bots and small apps to participate in revenue sharing, which helps them grow. According to the firm, this hidden and privacy-conscious advertising helps Telegram’s long-term monetisation goal by sharing 50% of ad income with content providers and bot developers.

Moreover, Telegram bots can now send up to 1000 messages per second, allowing them to send up to 30 messages per second for free. This feature is aimed at accommodating large-scale services and costs just 0.1 Star per message, which can be paid with Telegram Stars from the bot’s balance. Developers can also receive Stars from paid content and digital products.

Lastly, to determine the precise number of heart, star, or pumpkin reactions your posts receive, simply press and hold the reaction counters.
