Teri Hatcher‘s 60th birthday is just around the corner, and she has the perfect recipe for entering a milestone decade. The Desperate Housewives star shared her philosophy about aging on The Sherri Show ahead of her big day on Dec. 8.
Hatcher is letting everyone know that she’s OK with her age and she’s going to openly talk about it. “There’s only one way to feel about aging and that’s grateful. Every day above ground is a gift, so I do look at it with a lot of gratitude,” she explained to Sherri Shepherd. The TV star is looking inward and giving herself “grace” and “a lot of acceptance” as time goes by.

“I feel like when we’re young, we’re so hard on ourselves, and I feel like the expectation of it to be something other than what it is, is lessons, and it’s really nice,” Hatcher added. It’s been an evolution for Hatcher, who admitted in 2019 that she was not always “comfortable in my own skin.” She posted a bikini snapshot after her 55th birthday to show off her toned muscles that she worked hard for.
“Age allows you to be clear on your purpose and cherish who and what you are grateful for,” she wrote in the caption of her Instagram post. “You have enough age to see the miracle of life and enough youth to revel in that knowledge. You can be vulnerable and strong at the same time. You can forgive others and yourself. You are willing to put in the effort to reach a goal…or not. And that’s okay.”
Hatcher isn’t the only actress who is telling Hollywood that they are at the top of their game. Demi Moore and Pamela Anderson, who are both in the award-show mix this season, are proving that women over 50 are a demographic that needs to be seen and heard from more often. Moore summed it up best after a reporter at the Cannes Film Festival in May asked her if she was “canceled” for her age prior to being cast in The Substance.
“I don’t think I share that perspective of being canceled,” she explained at a press conference, via Deadline. “My particular perception is that regardless of what is going on outside of you, the real issue is how you are relating to the issue. I look for things that push me out of my comfort zone; the opportunity to make a better person and actor.”
With Hatcher and other A-list stars pushing the boundaries of what aging looks and feels like, people are finally opening their eyes to the beauty of growing older.
