Tesco is set to open its Christmas delivery slots to its customers from tomorrow (November 12).

The supermarket giant will open slots from 6am where shoppers can book their food delivery for Christmas.

It follows one week after Tesco told customers to sign up for its Delivery Saver scheme where they could get priority slots.

Those who have joined this plan will have to pay a monthly fee for their deliveries instead of having to pay for each time.

Overall, joining this scheme works out cheaper than having to pay for delivery each time when ordering from the supermarket. However, only if customers regularly order from Tesco.

The Delivery Saver scheme costs £4.99 a month for a six-month off-peak delivery pass, or £7.99 a month for a six-month anytime pass.

Tesco also has a click and collect option which costs £2.49 a month. This will set shoppers back £3.99 a month for a 12-month off-peak pass or £6.99 a month for a 12-month anytime pass.

There are also off-peak plans which offer deliveries from the supermarket chain after 3pm.

This Christmas will see Tesco add 60 more delivery vans to its fleet as well as thousands of extra delivery slots.

Tesco has also added more slots to its delivery service, Whoosh, which will see extra slots available on Christmas Eve.

Tom Denyard, managing director at Tesco Online said: “As we help customers plan ahead for their Christmas shop this year, we want customers to know that time is running out to sign up for a Delivery Saver Anytime Plan and benefit from festive priority slot bookings which go live tomorrow morning.

“We’re looking forward to helping customers across the UK pick up their family favourites or treat themselves to something special this festive season.

"We are also excited to be providing increased capacity with thousands of extra slots available in the fortnight leading up to Christmas Day.

“And there is no better time to sign up for a convenient Delivery Saver plan and benefit from festive priority slot bookings. Delivery Saver plans not only give you early access to slots this Christmas, but they can also save you an amazing £176 a year on delivery or collection fees.”
