The AI Revolution: Microsoft Commits $80 Billion to AI-Enabled Data Centers

Microsoft has planned to invest nearly $80 million in AI-enabled data centres in fiscal 2025. It will create data centers to train artificial intelligence models and deploy AI to giant technology companies. These data centers will be useful in the growth of AI models. Earlier this Friday the company wrote a blog post conveying how it will not only continue to focus on the artificial intelligence-infused data centers but also ramp up AI development.

“In FY 2025, Microsoft is on track to invest approximately $80 billion to build out AI-enabled data centers to train AI models and deploy AI and cloud-based applications around the world. More than half of this total investment will be in the United States, reflecting our commitment to this country and our confidence in the American economy,” said Microsoft in its blog post.

According to the blog, it says that how America’s technological strength lies in the private sector and the country is ahead of all in the AI race. Whether it is up-and-coming ventures or other bigshots as commoners call them, the country has continuously been the hub of innovation. The success though is not only due to the large and crowded technology space, but also competitors, chip providers, application companies, systems integrators, service providers, and the millions of software programmers.

The blog post further states, “AI skilling has become a necessity for the nation.” AI is the baked-in essence of how work is being done and what jobs will look like in the future. This can be aligned with the lessons from previous industrial revolutions.

According to experts, Microsoft Corporation is expected to make a gross amount of $ 84.24 billion (approximately Rs. 7,20,475 crore) under the capital expenditure including capital leases in the financial year ending 2025. Capital investments for the first three months of the current fiscal year were up 5.3% at $20bn (around Rs 171,541 crore).
