The Golden Bachelorette wrapped its first season and Joan Vassos and Chock Chapple are already making major life plans after their sparkling engagement on the Wednesday, Nov. 13 episode. Their decision to get their lives together quickly might have something to do with The Golden Bachelor star Gerry Turner‘s issues with Theresa Nist.

After an engagement celebration in Los Angeles, the dynamic duo told Us Weekly that they are headed straight to New York City to go apartment hunting. “We both love the energy in the city and love that there’s always something to do,” she explained. “We just wanna go out and walk and experience life — go to fun restaurants and [experience the] culture. We both have friends there. We’re gonna be there during the holidays, which is the best time ever in New York City. I think it’s just a really different life than either one of us have ever lived.”

Still, there are a few details to work out before they call Manhattan their full-time home. “This first year, obviously, we have to kind of figure out life. Chock has a business in Kansas. I have kids and grandkids and Maryland. I’m not leaving Maryland, but he does have obligations in Kansas,” Vassos said. “We know that we’re gonna spend time in Maryland and in Kansas, but then we have this really fun plan because both of us have always dreamed.”

Chapple is in full agreement with their plan, adding, “We’re gonna navigate it. We’re willing to spend time at each person’s hometown. We’re gonna spend a lot of time in New York City. We’re gonna get on with our lives.” It sounds like Vassos and Chapple discussed the pitfalls that plagued Turner and Nist after their televised wedding. How do you navigate multiple states and where do you settle down? The Golden Bachelorette couple seem to be open to a long-distance relationship on an as-needed basis.

“At this age, when you’re kind of in the retirement years, or getting close to them, it’s a little bit easier so as long as you have the time and the resources, you make it happen,” Vassos told Parade in early November. “You can fly to wherever they are. And it can even kind of be on the fun side. If I had something really fun happening in Rockville [Maryland], where I live, come and spend a couple of weeks with me. And if you have something great going on where you are, then I’ll come to you.”

Vassos and Chapple’s well-thought-out plans come on the heels of Nist revealing that there’s more to the story about her divorce from Turner. “You really can’t know somebody in four weeks. I’ll say that. That’s all I can say,” the 71-year-old reality star shared on the Nov. 5 episode of the Almost Famous podcast. “I don’t want to say any more than that. It’s not just the location thing. That’s all I’ll say.”

Turner and Nist told the world that they couldn’t decide on where to live even though they looked at homes in New Jersey and South Carolina together. In the end, they realized that they weren’t each other’s endgame. Let’s hope Vassos and Chapple go the distance.
