The Mike Tyson and Jake Paul fight on Netflix was one big joke

With a lot of anticipation leading up to the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight on Netflix, fans were not too happy with ongoing screen buffering and freezing issues during the live event and with the actual event itself as it went on.

Mike Tyson shared a surprising revelation during his post-fight chat in the Dallas boxing ring after his loss to Jake Paul. When asked about his repeated habit of chomping down on his left boxing glove, the legendary heavyweight fighter admitted: “I have a habit of biting my gloves, yes.” When pressed further, he simply stated: “Um, I have a biting fixation.”

This behavior brings back memories of the infamous 1997 incident where Tyson bit Evander Holyfield's ear during their championship bout, leading to his disqualification. Reflecting on his performance against Jake Paul this Friday, Tyson expressed contentment, saying: “Absolutely happy yes. I knew he was a good fighter, he was prepared but I came to fight.”

The match's outcome was decisively in Jake Paul's favor, with the younger boxer landing 78 hits compared to Tyson's mere 18 throughout eight two-minute rounds, sparking outrage among boxing enthusiasts.

Social media erupted with criticism, with one fan tweeting: “Who next, Joe Biden”

Another user sarcastically posted: “BREAKING: Jake Paul has challenged Jimmy Carter (age 100) to a boxing match after beating Mike Tyson (age 58).”

“Terrible fight all around. I wasn't expecting Tyson to go crazy but he barely did anything but bite his glove,” commented another viewer.

Someone else observed: “Watching Tyson get paid 20 million to bite a glove.”

Plus, the fact that Paul kept leading Tyson to chase him around the ring the entire time was also extremely tedious.

The matchup sparked heated debate within the boxing community, with many promoters condemning Paul for luring the 58-year-old Tyson out of retirement, calling it dangerous and unethical. As the fight unfolded, social media exploded with the trending phrase “He's 58” – some users outraged at Paul for challenging someone more than twice his age, while others marveled at Tyson's ability to hold his own against a significantly younger opponent in prime physical condition.

The event, which included Katie Taylor Vs. Amanda Serrano 2 as an opener (which was a much more exciting match), made history as the highest-grossing boxing gate outside Las Vegas in US history, generating over $17.8 million. The crowd numbered more than 70,000 spectators.
