The Owl House Creator’s Next Show Looks Good and Freaky

In 2023, fans of Disney’s The Owl House bid farewell to the show after it had a pretty good, but also pretty truncated three-season run. It wasn’t clear what creator Dana Terrace was going to do once it wrapped, other than not do a spinoff or prequel of any kind. As it turns out, she’s been cooking something up for a while now, and it’s looking pre-tty intriguing.

Days ago, Terrace and animation studio Glitch (best known for The Amazing Digital Circus) released a teaser for the upcoming web series, Knights of Guinevere. The short teaser shows a young woman who looks like a princess, sleeping in a field of flowers and surrounded by animals…only to then smash cut to a robot-looking woman waking up in a lab as one of her arms lashes around and attacks the scientists preparing to restrain her. That’s all we get, but the hard switch from cutesy fairy tale whimsy to creepy body horror makes clear this is a Terrace joint. It’s also a bit of a reunion, as Terrace co-created (and is co-directing) this new series with John Bailey Owen and Zach Marcus, two key Owl House writers.

Knights of Guinevere is billed as a “sci-fi psychological thriller,” and Glitch’s first-ever 2D show. At the moment, none of the three creators are saying much about the plot, but they’re more than glad for the hype around its first teaser. (Since the reveal, several staffers on the show have taken to sharing their own art, and fanmade art, on social media channels.) The team hopes to put out a pilot later this year, but things can change, and Terrace said it’s a “long way off.” Nonetheless, the excitement is palpable: she’s excited to “have fun in this new creative space,” and Marcus was equally geeked about the “very gentle relaxing show for you all to enjoy.”

IT'S FINALLY HERE💙

I'm thrilled to work as a character designer on such an exciting project and to be part of an amazing team! ✨💫#KnightsOfGuinevere https://t.co/I3cKgtnfMO pic.twitter.com/HatDhrbTfU
