In the Season 3 premiere of The Traitors, Big Brother alum Danielle Reyes was chosen to be a Traitor alongside Bob the Drag Queen and Carolyn Wiger. Danielle is known for being a smart and savvy player but she’s already drawn some suspicion in the castle. Survivor alum Jeremy Collins threw her name out in Episode 3, telling others he didn’t buy her emotional display after the first challenge. If she isn’t careful, she may be the next player banished from the castle.
Danielle made her reality TV debut over 20 years ago on the third season of Big Brother. Younger reality TV fans may not be familiar with her history given it was two decades ago. If you need a refresher, I got you.
Here is everything you need to know about Traitor Danielle Reyes.
Danielle Reyes was robbed on Season 3 of Big Brother
Big Brother fans aren’t surprised to see Danielle mocking her castmates in confessionals considering her history on Big Brother. The 52-year-old played a masterful social game on Big Brother 3 but her snarky confessionals cost her the $500,000 grand prize.
In the early days of BB, the jury was not sequestered. Once they were eliminated, they went home and watched Danielle mock them on national television, souring their perception of her as a player. The jury did not vote in her favor come finale night, which came as a shock to fans given how well she played the game. Viewers suspected Danielle’s shady confessionals were the reason she lost the game to actress Lisa Donahue. After Danielle’s shocking loss, Big Brother producers revised the game and began sequestering the jury so they could not be swayed by confessionals.
Danielle competed on Big Brother: All-Stars
Danielle got a second chance at victory in 2006 when she competed on the first Big Brother: All-Stars where she once again proved she is a force to be reckoned with. She devised masterful plans and created useful alliances but in the end, she wasn’t able to shed her mastermind reputation. She was eliminated in Week 8 because of her threat level. Her ally, Erika Landin, chose her as the replacement nominee at the Veto ceremony, stating she could not beat Danielle in the finale.
Despite not making it to the finale, Danielle said she was proud of her game in her exit interview with host Julie Chen-Moonves.
“I played the game as best as I could,” she said. “I tried to be respectful to most of the players in the house.”
Danielle has beef with Big Brother alum Britney Haynes
In the Season 3 premiere of The Traitors, viewers saw an awkward exchange between Danielle and Britney Haynes. Britney apologized to Danielle for eliminating her on Big Brother: Reindeer Games, which aired in the winter of 2023. If you didn’t watch the short-lived spinoff, you are likely confused about what transpired between these two BB alums.
Danielle and Britney were allies on Reindeer Games but Britney suspected Danielle was more loyal to Xavier Prather, so she decided to throw Danielle into a Santa’s Showdown competition, which ended her time on the show. Britney spoke about the decision in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, telling the outlet, “I have watched her seasons. I know the type of player she is.”
She added that she wanted to take a swing at Danielle before she could take one at her.
“If her and Xavier are talking about getting rid of me, no hesitation. She will get rid of me. No questions asked. So I knew that about her, but it still was so hard for me to do because of how much I really love her as a fan of the show and how much she had done for Big Brother as a program,” she told the publication in December 2023.
Danielle made it clear she is still harboring a grudge on The Traitors. Britney better make amends if she doesn’t want to be murdered.
New episodes of The Traitors are released on Thursdays on Peacock.
