Former the Traitors contestant Joe Scott has addressed the backlash against him from some viewers.

Joe, 37, had been a Faithful on the third series of the BBC show, which concludes with its final later this week. The English teacher was however 'murdered' by Traitors Minah Shannon and Charlotte Berman on Wednesday's episode.

During his time at Ardross Castle in Scotland, Joe targeted several fellow Faithfuls at the round tables including Kasim Ahmed and later Alex Oleksy. He did however vote for Linda Rands, who was an original Traitor, on two occasions.

Some viewers were not impressed with Joe on the show though and it's even been suggested on social media that he was the "worst" Faithful in the show's history. He's now addressed the reaction in an interview with the Mirror.

Joe said he's received "quite a big backlash" and told us he finds that particular title to be "weird" given that he made it through several banishments and murders. He said: "I mean, I've had quite a big backlash. To say I'm the worst Faithful ever I find weird because I made it to the final week."

He went on to recall sharing his suspicions about Linda, just like Jake Brown. The pair were proved to be right about the retired opera singer when she was unmasked as one of the Traitors upon her banishment in an episode last week.

Referencing fans having questioned why she remained in the game for so long, Joe said: "Also, so many people were like 'how is Linda still in?' and I was one of the few people with Jake that was on Linda's case and people just wouldn't listen to us. So y'know, I'd say I'm not up there with the worst Faithfuls. I don't know who is but definitely not me."

Discussing the round tables, he said: "It is so hard because you all become really close and [that's] what made this year a difficult thing to be a part of. Because I thought, 'There's gonna be people in there that I naturally won't get on with and it will make it easier.'" Joe however said he ended up getting along with everyone: "It might not have come across that way but I genuinely got on with everybody there. So when it got to the table it was having to say those names."

Joe explained that he went into the round tables "really confident" as he hadn't ever heard anyone raise suspicions about him. He said: "Because I was so outspoken at the table, I think people just thought 'if he was a Traitor would he really go in that hard on other Faithfuls just to make out he's one of us?'. So I think although I was wrong with a few things, I think that worked to my advantage as a Faithful."

The Traitors continues Thursday night from 9pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. The third series will then conclude with its finale from 8.30pm on Friday.
