'The Way Home' Season 3 Introduces a Whole New Timeline & This Couple’s Love Story Is Right at the Center

If you’re a fan of Hallmark’s time-traveling series The Way Home, then you know just how exciting it is to have a date for season 3. After all, season 2, which came to an end in March 2024, ended in quite a cliffhanger as adult Jacob (Spencer Macpherson) returned to the present day after decades to reunite with his unsuspecting mom, Del (Andie MacDowell). 

But, ahead of the season 3 premiere on Jan. 2, 2025, the sneak peek into the new season is showing that Del and Jacob’s reunion might not even be the most exciting plotline. 

In the new trailer, Kat (Chyler Leigh) and Alice (Sadie Laflamme-Snow) jump back into the pond and end up in 1974. 

“Visiting for the summer?” one driver of a 70s-decked-out van says. “Yeah, with my daughter,” Kat responds as she hops in. 

As it turns out, 1974 is the year teenage Del and Colton (played by newcomers Julia Tomasone and Jordan Doww) first meet and begin their love story. 

“You’re Delilah Watson,” Colton says to his future wife during a fireside beach hangout. “Colton Landry.”

Also in the new timeframe, Alice becomes friends with a young Evelyn Goodwin (played by fellow newcomer Devin Cecchetto). “Their budding friendship complicates Alice’s relationship with Del, who wants her memories of Colton to remain the way they are,” the synopsis of the new season details. 

Also coming up, of course, is more of Kat and Elliot’s (Evan Williams) bumpy relationship. “In the present day, [Kat] and Elliot navigate a new chapter in their relationship, while he finds himself faced with his own complicated past,” the blurb continues. “I have so many questions,” Elliot says at one point in the trailer. 

Overall, it seems like there’s a whole treasure trove of twists and turns awaiting fans in season 3.

With the intriguing new characters they’ve created and riveting storylines, viewers are in for another enthralling season.”

When Is The Way Home Season 3 Coming Back?

The new season is less than two months away, set to return exclusively on Jan. 2 on Hallmark+.
