Throwback photo reveals Hollywood superstar playing against England footballer when they were kids

A resurfaced photo of England centre-back Joe Gomez alongsideHollywood superstar Timothee Chalamet has re-emerged on social media, shocking fans.

The picture shows Gomez and Chalamet at young children, about 9 or 10 years old.

The Addicks’ academy faced New York-based soccer school Manhattan Kickers and both teams posed for a photo together before the match.

While Gomez may not have coincidentally posed next to someone whose football career would reach the same heights as his own, its safe to say that Chalamet went on to make a name for himself in his own way.

The actor has exploded into the spotlight in recent years, starring in massive films like Wonka, Dune, Little Women, and – most recently – as Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown.

Like Chalamet, Gomez rose to fame at a young age, beginning his career at Charlton Athletic before breaking into the first team at 17 and playing one full season before joining Liverpool in June 2015.

While Chalamet is about two years older than Gomez, it makes sense that the football star might have been playing slightly older kids.

The picture has gained a lot of attention on Reddit in recent days, with user ARealGreatGuy writing: ‘This is one of the craziest crossovers since Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart.’

AgreeableLaugh1171 concurred: ‘Would have never predicted this crossover in a million years.’

Another took a jab at Gomez, writing: ‘Timmy C probs got a better scoring record than GOmez! Saying that hurts coming from a Liverpool fan but the truth ain’t always nice lol.’

HUGE_HOG referenced Chalamet’s character in Dune, writing: ‘Lisan al Gaib, Joe will lead us to number 20.’

The photo has reemerged just as news has broken that Gomez will be out ‘for quite a bit’ due to a hamstring injury picked up in Liverpool’s win at West Ham on Sunday, revealed Arne Slot.

The defender limped out of the win after just 37 minutes, replaced by Jarell Quansah.

Now, the England international is set to miss a number of games to come as he recovers from the injury.

Meanwhile, Chalamet has reached new career heights with the release of his latest project A Complete Unknown.

The Bob Dylan biopic has received favourable reviews, with Chalamet’s performance earning praise in particular.

Much like Gomez who has a famously rigorous training schedule, Chalamet too takes his craft seriously, going to extreme measures to prepare for the part.

The actor isolated himself entirely for three months: ‘No visitors, no friends, no reps, no nothing,’ he said.

“It sounds pretentious,” he admitted to Rolling Stone, ‘but panic fueled me. I didn’t want to lose a moment of discovery as the character because of my phone or any distraction, so while I was in it, that was my eternal focus.’
