TikTok has launched an updated Video Editor platform, which is now part of its Symphony creative toolset, to enable more editing options and functions within a single management dashboard.
TikTok’s Video Editor offers advanced editing tools, as well as access to newer creative features, such as digital avatars, narration with auto-captions, one-click translations with voiceovers, and AI-generated soundtracks.
The updated Video Editor UI now makes it easier to access and use these various functions, while also incorporating new guidance on how to create better clips, based on what’s already working in the app.
As explained by TikTok:
“Powered by generative AI, and trained on TikTok’s top-performing ads, Video Editor helps advertisers simplify the creative process and boost efficiency across multiple scenarios.”
As you can see in this example, Video Editor now includes a range of templates to choose from, which are based on trending TikTok formats, enabling you to easily create more resonant clips.
Though the most interesting aspect could be TikTok’s generative AI avatars, which enable you to create videos with an AI character fronting the clip.
As per TikTok:
“These generative AI avatars bring your messages to life, captivating global audiences with immersive and authentic storytelling.”
The avatars are synced to your audio, and can appear to be a real person fronting your content.
And they’re getting better every day, and digital avatars like this have already been a huge hit in China, where they even conduct 24/7 social selling live streams.
“The updated Video Editor includes a library of 388 stock avatars, created by licensed actors from diverse backgrounds and nationalities, speaking over 30 different languages. This allows you to effortlessly add a human touch to your content, delivering impactful messages that truly resonate.”
That’s another consideration, that these avatars can present your content in different languages, which could be another avenue to expand your outreach, though Video Editor also offers AI dubbing in various languages, which enables you to either add a cloned voice, or an alternative language voiceover (in 14 languages).
How comfortable you feel with a digital character promoting your products is another question, but these virtual representatives could become more valuable over time, as they both gain more functionality, and as users get more comfortable with these digital depictions.
It’s a handy update, which will make TikTok’s Symphony suite more valuable, with more tools to simplify creation, and maximize your efforts in the app.
And if you’re outside the U.S. TikTok looks set to remain a key platform for outreach, and boosting your brand message, which could make this a key tool to add into your social media marketing mix.
