Tim C has met Mr. Milchick.
Yep, Tim Cook has officially been onboarded onto Severance. The Apple CEO filmed a video getting into character as an outtie (who becomes an innie) to promote the second season of the hit Apple TV+ series, which released its second episode of season two on Friday.
In the footage, Cook is called the “core of the apple” when he’s greeted by an excited Mr. Milchick (Tramell Tillman) in the show’s Lumon Industries-set offices.
Director/executive producer Ben Stiller shared the video on X, writing, “Was helping this new guy find his office this morning…” Cook then shared Stiller’s post with the nod: “Ready to clock in for episode 2!”
Severance, created by showrunner Dan Erickson, has become an award-winning hit for the streamer. The second season released last week after a nearly three-year wait. The first season’s finale dropped back in spring of 2022 and Erickson told The Hollywood Reporter when returning with season two that world events in the time between, namely the pandemic and shifted return-to-office policies, greatly influenced the new season of the workplace mystery drama.
“We didn’t really know when we were making season one what the return to work was going to feel like … and what it was going to feel like to come back into the office having been doing remote work for so long,” he said. “That experience informed the way we wrote season two. And then similarly, that experience of coming back to work changed the way people were talking about work and talking about how much of ourselves we owe to our employer and what we should expect back in return. It’s not a straight line, but I think that those kind of conversations led to things like the [Hollywood] strikes, and people reassessing what work should feel like. So that made it into the story.”
Severance also stars Adam Scott, Britt Lower, Zach Cherry, John Turturro, Jen Tullock, Michael Chernus, Dichen Lachman, Christopher Walken and Patricia Arquette, with newcomers Sarah Bock and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson.
