TV star admits it 'wasn't pleasant' working with her estranged husband

The Real Housewives of Potomac’s Ashley Darby used to work for her ex-husband. Now they’re not together, she’s spilling the tea on how he “was not pleasant” to be bossed around by.

Ashley Darby split from her ex-husband, Michael Darby, in 2022, after eight years of marriage. The Real Housewives of Potomac star didn’t just spend time with him at home, but worked professionally under him as well.

When Ashley Darby’s RHOP co-star Keiarna revealed her partner “called her an employee the other day,” it reminded her of her own experience of working for her ex-husband of eight years, Michael Darby, 64.

Before joining the show, Darby worked as a bartender at one of her then-future husband’s restaurants.

She said: “You know, I worked with my ex-husband and that was not pleasant.”

While Darby is a certified yoga instructor, former restaurant owner, and ex-pageant queen from 2011, her ex is very successful. He is an Australian restaurateur and largescale realtor, which she wed in 2014.

Michael and Ashley had separated for the first time amid the closure of their restaurant, Oz, but in the years that followed, they welcomed children and continued to work on their marriage.

RHOP star divorced ex in 2022

Darby is the owner behind yoga brand, ZenGem, and separated from her ex in 2022.

She said: “We are now both at very different stages in our lives and have different goals for our futures.”

“No one reason is the root cause of our mutual decision to go our separate ways. We both want the other to achieve true happiness and fulfillment and feel that we cannot do this together,” Darby added.

She was later romantically linked to Summer House star Luke Gulbranson. However, she confirmed their break-up in January after less than three months of dating – and that time, she was not his employee.

Now, Darby and her estranged husband are co-parenting their children. She said at BravoCon 2023, “All they know is that they have two houses and they get to have double the toys. So that’s been good.”

She added that they “really don’t really have a relationship at all.” They share sons Dean, four, and Dylan, two, while Darby admitted there were “benefits professionally and financially” to being married.
