Vin Diesel has had an ongoing feud with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson for the better part of a decade — and they recently crossed paths at the 2025 Golden Globes.
The Fast & Furious costars attended the awards show on Sunday, January 5, in Beverly Hills, California, where Diesel, 57, was set to present the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement Award.
The Chronicles of Riddick star took the stage to present the honor for the night, and that's when he spotted Johnson, 52, in the crowd. The actor waved at Johnson and said, "Hey, Dwayne," as the crowd burst into laughter. The camera then panned to Johnson, who was smiling briefly before putting on a serious face.
Fans of the two stars noticed the interaction and took to Reddit to share their thoughts on the shoutout.
"I want to think this was a cheeky and cute 'let bygones be bygones' moment. But I'm inclined to believe they're both boiling inside about it," wrote one fan. A second admitted, "I thought we were getting a slap 2.0," referencing the altercation between Chris Rock and Will Smith during the Academy Awards in 2022. A different fan took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and wrote, "You could literally see The Rock's hatred towards Vin Diesel in that shot. Oh my gosh. 'Hey Dwayne.' Amazing haha."
The feud between Diesel and Johnson began after Johnson shared a since-deleted post on Instagram in August 2016. At the time, Johnson called some of his The Fate of the Furious costars "chicken s**t" and "candy a**es." The 2016 sequel was the eighth entry in the Fast & Furious franchise and marked Johnson's third appearance. The actor would reprise his role one more time in a spinoff called Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw alongside Jason Statham in 2019 before announcing that he was leaving the franchise for good in 2021.
Johnson revealed that he will be reprising his role in the upcoming sequel in a video on Instagram in June 2023, where he told his followers, "Yes, it is true. Hobbs is back. Despite us having our differences, me and Vin, we've been like brothers for years, and despite our differences, when you lead with — number one, resolve — but also you think about the future and plans that are much bigger than ourselves. Those bigger plans are the buildout. They are the North Star."
