Waitrose, Domino's and Papa John's recall popular items due to 'possible health risk'

FGS Ingredients Ltd, the food supplier, has taken the necessary step to recall a huge number of products sold at the likes of Waitrose, Domino's and Papa John's.

The food recall has been issued because of an undeclared allergen; products may contain peanuts which are not on the label. "This means the products are a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to peanuts," the FSA cautioned.

People who have a peanut allergy may experience any of the following symptoms following exposure to the allergen:

• Feeling dizzy or lightheaded
• Itchy skin or a raised rash
• Swelling of the lips, face and eyes
• Coughing, wheezing, breathlessness, noisy breathing or a hoarse voice
• Sneezing or an itchy, runny or blocked nose
• Feeling sick or being sick
• Tummy pain
• Diarrhoea

The NHS added: "A food allergy is where your body reacts to certain foods. It's often mild, but can be very serious for some people."

Hampshire Foods, a family-run herbs and spice merchant that supplies ingredients to Michelin Star restaurants and P&O Cruise ships, has also issued a food recall.

They stated: "We are committed to your safety and the quality of our products. We are issuing a recall for of our products as below due to the potential risk of peanut contamination." All Hampshire Foods listed include all pack sizes and batches."
