Warner Bros. is making some big schedule changes to some of the biggest and anticipated blockbusters. One such change will certainly not go over well for fans of Batman.

According to a report from Deadline, "The Batman 2" has once again been delayed. The third delay will now see the follow-up in Matt Reeves' Batverse be shuffled to the year 2027.
This is the third time that the studio has chosen to push the release of the film, with the initial schedule change late for Oct. 3, 2025. The studio then announced it would be pushed to Oct. 2, 2025, and now it has been pushed to Oct. 1, 2027.
According to the report from Deadline, "Post Christmas Warner Bros is busy making release date changes for next year before it rings in and beyond. The most prolific move is that Matt Reeves' The Batman sequel is heading from Oct. 2, 2026, to Oct. 1, 2027. Production isn't scheduled to get started until late summer and with a VFX-heavy sequel such as this one, a fall 2026 theatrical release is within reach. The Reeves' movie will have Imax screens."
It appears the delay is related to the production schedule, which will not kick off until late summer of 2025. The move is certainly going to impact the hype for the film, but it might also aid in the Reeves universe potentially being built out while the second film gets underway.
Reeves is currently enjoying the massive success of "The Penguin," which became a massive hit for Max. Following the series wrapping up, Reeves stated that discussions were already being held for a second season.
"Yeah, we're talking to [showrunner] Lauren [LeFranc] about doing another season. That was a special experience," Reeves said. "I just feel really fortunate. These characters don't belong to me; they belong to the world. It comes down to whether you can approach them in a way that expresses something personal."
"The Penguin" star Colin Farrell was also initially skeptical about a second season, only to change his tune and state he would be up for it if the idea and script were right.
"If there's a great idea [for season two], and the writing was really muscular and as strong or stronger on the page than it was the first season, of course I would do it," Farrell tells The Hollywood Reporter.

Reeves had initially laid out his plans for his Batman Universe, which included a show about the Gotham City Police Department, Penguin, and a potential Arkham Asylum series. Only one of those ideas panned out, so it will be interesting to see what he does.
For now, it looks as though DC fans will have to wait another almost three years to see Robert Pattinson dawn the cap and cowl.
