Warriors Make NBA History After Just Two Games to Open New Season

2 months ago 22

It has only been a few days since the NBA season started but the Golden State Warriors have already made history just two games in. They have started the year with two wins but they are the first team to open their season with two wins by at least 35 points.

The Warriors went through some big changes this offseason which included seeing All-Star guard Klay Thompson leave the organization. Golden State put together a ton of depth around star guard Steph Curry and Draymond Green that they believed would help.

So far, it's been a strong start. They have taken down the Portland Trail Blazers and Utah Jazz through the first few games of the season.

Both of those teams aren't very good but a win is a win for this Warriors team. They are looking to get back to the postseason after missing it entirely last year.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr weighed in on the performances of his team. Even he was a little surprised by how strong they have been to start the season.

"We couldn't have imagined this," Steve Kerr said. "Winning two road games in the manner that we did, with guys defending the way they did, the energy, the connection, supporting each other. Nobody really playing that many minutes but everybody kind of fueling each other. It was fun to watch."

The biggest addition for the Warriors this offseason was bringing in guard Buddy Hield. He has fit in flawlessly with this Golden State team so far and it's given them a major boost.

He is averaging 24.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game. Hield is also shooting an astonishing 75 percent from beyond the 3-point line.

While he likely won't keep up these types of numbers, Hield has given this team a boost without Thompson. Placing him next to Curry, the Warriors look like a deadly shooting team from distance once again.

Golden State won four titles with the trio of Curry, Green, and Thompson so seeing him leave was tough for them. But the two sides couldn't come to terms on a new deal and Thompson wanted to head elsewhere.

With these new pieces in place, Golden State seems primed to reclaim its spot among the elite teams in the Western Conference this season. It is still very early but the Warriors may be a sneaky good team this year.
