Watch Moment Dad Realizes Baby's Major Milestone Was Caught On Camera

A dad's reaction to seeing his infant son achieve a notable developmental milestone and realizing it has been caught on camera has been shared online.

Every parent is eager to document the developmental changes their child goes through. In the past, photography was a key tool in that approach. In fact, one study published in the journal Psychology in the Schools concluded that children who regularly see photos of themselves have higher self-esteem than those who don't.

While photography is still an important part of life for most parents, today video has largely taken over, with moms and dads capturing any number of clips of their kids doing everything from the most mundane of tasks in an adorable manner to moments of greater significance.

Ian and Amy Routledge from Kent, U.K., were able to capture one such instance of the latter on a Ring security camera, with the footage subsequently shared with Newsweek.

In the video, captured on a Ring Indoor Camera just ahead of Christmas, their 13-month-old son Jenson can be seen walking for the first time.

The heartwarming footage shows the infant throwing caution to the wind by making the brave decision to let go of the banister, before confidently waddling over to his shocked father, 36, who can't believe his eyes.

For a second, he's stunned. Then he realizes that, despite his partner Amy, 33, being upstairs, the camera has captured this most magical of moments for them to watch again and again.

Amy told Ring: "We shared it with family after seeing it ourselves and they were all excited and pleased to have seen it on camera."

It was completely by chance that the moment was captured on video though. Originally the Routledges bought the camera as a security device. However, three years later, it's ended up providing what Amy describes as an "added bonus."

The result is a video they are sure to watch again and again and one Jenson will no doubt be treated to repeat viewings of for years to come.

This isn't the first time a heartwarming moment involving a toddler has been captured on a security camera device. In October, one mom shared footage of the moment she realized her infant daughter doesn't trust her anymore when it comes to her nighttime feed.

That same month, another piece of indoor security camera footage showcased a heartwarming interaction between a pair of siblings. The video captured a toddler's adorable and unexpected reaction to finding his older sister upset.

On a slightly different note, an expectant dad was left with some explaining to do after accidentally revealing the gender of their unborn child to his pregnant wife.
