Wendy Williams said she feels like 'she's in prison' as she hit out at her conservatorship - which she has been under since 2022.

In the last year, Wendy's family has shared their concern over their inability to contact the talk show host. Her relatives claimed she was put under guardianship without their knowledge and were not considered to be potential caregivers for the chat show star. New York lawyer, Sabrina Morrissey, currently acts as her legal guardian.

It came as her care team said she was diagnosed with dementia and aphasia. There had been claims that the 60-year-old is "incapacitated", which her family refuted. Wendy recently echoed her family's concern during an appearance on The Breakfast Club on Thursday. She said: "Do I seem that way, god damn it?" about her diagnoses.

She added: "I am not cognitively impaired, you know what I’m saying? But I feel like I’m in prison." Wendy has been living at a New York care facility. "I’m in this place where the people are in their 90s and their 80s and their 70s … There’s something wrong with these people here on this floor," Wendy added.

Her niece, Alex, also appeared on the programme and said the facility was making it difficult to contact Wendy. Alex explained: "They won't allow you to leave or have visitors. So you can't even leave and take a walk if you wanted to, or take a trip or visit family members."

Wendy went on to call the system "broken" as she claimed to experience "emotional abuse" from the guardianship. Alex added: "That's been the reality since 2023. She's sitting in that room that she's sitting in, she's there every day, all hours of the day, every week, every month, she's not getting proper sunlight. I went to New York in October to visit her.

"And the level of security and the level of questions that there were in terms of, 'Who am I? Why am I here? What's the purpose?' I mean, it was absolutely just horrible." Wendy is said to have faced various health issues over the years. It includes her having announced back in 2018 that she had been diagnosed with the autoimmune condition Graves' disease and associated hyperthyroidism.

More recently, it was reported in February last year that she was diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia (FTD). Aphasia is said to refer to a person experiencing difficulty with their language or speech, typically as a result of damage to the left side of the brain. Whilst FTD is described as a type of dementia that causes problems with behaviour and language.
