A man's response to his wife's peculiar thermostat habit has left users on Reddit in stitches.
The man had taken to the social media platform on January 22 under the username u/smells_like_your_mom to detail his pet peeve—his wife's inability to set the thermostat at the "right" temperature. He decided to leave a hilarious prompt for her on the thermostat to deter her from turning it up or down.
"My wife sets the thermostat too high and too low," the man wrote. "A comfortable temperature is never an option and when I try, she taped over the thermostat. If it is chilly in the house, she sets the thermostat to 76°F, and if it gets too hot, she will turn the AC on to 65°F, and then it is a constant cycle of too hot or too cold."
The man wrote that he has tried changing it and setting it to 70 degrees, which his wife quickly noticed, mentioning that the house was "comfortable" for a day.
"Until she realized I touched the thermostat," the man added. "She does the same thing during car rides too. Full blast heat and full blast AC."
Users were able to see a Post-it note which had "no!" scribbled repeatedly on it. The man explained that he had stuck the note onto the thermostat to deter his wife from fiddling with it.

"The note is covering the numbers so just set it correctly and then put the note back to hide the evidence," one user wrote.
Another added: "The solution is simple: One degree a day over the course of 5 days. Alternatively you could risk it and change it under the clock of darkness."
A third user wrote: "Reminds me of The Office when Jim talks about getting Dwight to punch himself in the face by putting a penny in his phone every day and then taking them all out at once."
Several users noted that the woman's difficulty finding an appropriate temperature could be down to an unnoticed health issue.
"She should have her thyroid checked. I'm not kidding," one user wrote.
Another added: "Could also be menopausal."
