Tyson kept the tigers as cubs before handing two of them over to an animal sanctuary when they were grown. He kept the third one as a pet and even said that he let the big cat sleep in his bedroom with him at one point. However, his lavish spending habits eventually landed him in trouble.
In 2010, Tyson opened up about his financial struggles during an appearance on The View.
“I’m totally destitute and broke. But I have an awesome life. I have an awesome wife who cares about me. … I’m totally broke,” Tyson told the talk show hosts. “I had a lot of fun. It [going broke] just happened. I’m very grateful. I don’t deserve to have the wife that I have; I don’t deserve the kids that I have, but I do, and I’m very grateful.”
Since then, the Brooklyn native has managed to earn back a chunk of his wealth through his other endeavors.
