What People Get Wrong About Pisces Personality Traits, According to Astrologers

18 hours ago 2

If you were born between Feb. 18 and March 20, you're a Pisces. Known for being emotionally sensitive, hopelessly romantic, idealistic, and prone to daydreaming, the Pisces personality traits aren't exactly a secret. But even if you weren't born under this sign, you might still relate to the most common Pisces traits — Pisces could be your moon sign or rising sign, influencing your emotions and how you present yourself to the world.

For those born under the intuitive water sign, ruled by dreamy Neptune, they tend to have a wild imagination and an extraordinary sense of the supernatural, meaning they may take tarot cards and psychics very seriously. The sensitive sign is all about thinking outside of the box and transcending the material world, and people often fall head over heels for their creative minds and empathetic hearts.

But Pisces swim deeper than many people realize. Below, astrologers Erin River Sunday and Tara Bennet share the most common Pisces personality traits. Plus, they explain why they're considered the daydreamers of the zodiac.

What Is a Pisces?

Pisces is the last astrological sign in the zodiac, meaning it comes right after Aquarius and right before Aries. Represented by a symbol of two fish, it's no surprise that Pisces is a sensitive sign with water as its zodiac element. "Pisces swim in a sea of their own creation," Bennet says. "They're dreamy and creative, effortlessly shifting between reality and fantasy."

According to Sunday, their modern planetary ruler, Neptune, is responsible for their dreamy sense of imagination. "Neptune is very magical and illusive, much like human's creativity," Sunday explains. "Pisces' often seem to have an 'otherworldly' creative nature, accessing realms that many of us only dream of in order to create works of art." Safe to say that if you want to create magic, literally and figuratively, it's a good idea to consult a Pisces.

As a mutable sign, Pisces is also one of the most versatile signs. They can adapt to pretty much any situation, as if they're swimming effortlessly between the unpredictable waves of life. Mutable signs are quick on their feet, and Pisces's added intuition makes them class-A shapeshifters. "Pisces can fit into many different groups because they often morph to embody the people they spend time around," Sunday adds.

What Are Pisces Personality Traits?

Pisces are creative. There are few things more fantastical and creative than a Pisces's imagination. These intuitive signs are always stirring up outlandish ideas, and because of their ties to the mystical world, they're often seen as ahead of their time. "Their creativity is unrivaled," Bennet adds.

Pisces are extremely empathetic. Yup, these are the people who can tear up from a commercial or when they see any type of dog video. "They can become mirrors reflecting the emotions of those around them, Bennet says. "These fish simply want to make the world a happier and better place for everyone."

Pisces are romantic. "Pisces are in love with love," Bennet says. They love a good romance novel, seeing the closest people to them get married, and showering their partners with physical touch and words of affirmation. "Romantic gestures and tremendous love stories are part and parcel of these fish," Bennet says.

What Are Some Pisces Weaknesses?

Pisces are overthinkers. Those with Pisces somewhere in their chart are prone to being introspective . . . to a fault. It's easy for this sign to get lost in a fantasy and dissect every detail in order to get a full understanding of a situation. They also may avoid turning to others for help pulling themselves out of their heads; they are fiercely independent and enjoy solitude, which many people don't realize.

Pisces are escapists. "If Pisces don't like their reality, they'll create their own," Bennet says. They prefer to see their life in the way that they want to . . . and this version is not always the truth of what's going on. "Facing life challenges beyond their control can send them running into their version of reality," Bennet adds, which means they're not great at addressing issues or confrontation head on.

Pisces are unreliable. Sorry, but you probably don't want to trust a Pisces to finish their part in a group project. "These fish may have every intention of helping out, but with their head in the clouds, missed commitments are expected," Bennet says.

What Is a Pisces Like in Love?

Because Pisces are so romantic, this makes them great partners. They're dreamy, appreciate love for what it is, and adore their significant others. But because Pisces tend to be on the sensitive side, they often wear their heart on their sleeve, Bennet adds. For this reason, unclear expectations or situationships don't work great for Pisces. "They're gentle souls who need a long-term commitment from friends or partners," Bennet says.
