What really happened at Apple Martin’s debutante ball as she’s accused of ‘stealing spotlight’

Apple Martin has caught a lot of attention after appearing at a debutante ball in Paris on Saturday night.

The young debutant, 20, is the daughter of Coldplay superstar Chris Martin and Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow, both of whom were in attendance at Le Bal des Débutantes.

The event was dubbed the ‘nepo baby’ ball by critics, who highlighted that only the upper echelon of the richest of the rich was in attendance at this event.

Count Leo Cosima Henckel von Donnersmarck accompanied Apple to the glitzy affair hosted at Shangri-La Paris.

The 20-year-old wore a strapless blue Valentino Haute Couture gown with black embellishments and a mini tiara-style clip in her blonde up-do.

The young star looked incredible but faced ‘mean girl’ accusations following the event as a viral video gained 4.5 million views on TikTok.

A video from the event from Paris Match went viral on TikTok as the star posed for a photographer and suggested that she was ‘muscling in’ on someone’s snapshot moment.

‘She just came and stole that other girl’s thunder…ok,’ commented stoned.at.home.mom on the viral video.

‘That looks like a scene in a teenage movie where the mean girl steals someone the show 😂,’ said laaaleeeluuuh.

‘The way she came sliding in to steal that other girl’s moment… NAHHHHH,’ said wiscoinoregon.

However, others were quick to defend the star and point out that she was simply having fun and the photographer had clearly asked her to pose after the girl ahead of her was finished.

‘Why are people being so mean. Shes just having fun,’ said skateboardqueen65.

‘This made me like her. She has a sense of humour over the ridiculousness of this. 😂,’ said hotpinkeat.

Body language expert, Judi James, analysed some of the videos that emerged and suggested that the star was ‘showboating’ for the cameras and keen to steal the spotlight.

‘It looks as though Apple is itching to get in front of the lenses,’ Judi dished. ‘She appears to upstage the first woman by stepping forward and showboating for the cameras, adopting some more dramatic poses that suggest she is anything but a shy introvert,’ she told Mail Online.

‘Considering her more private years growing up, Apple really does seem to have burst onto the scene here with body language that looks so confident she leaves her [own] mother looking rather camera-shy beside her.’

Gwyneth and Chris tied the knot in December 2003 after dating for just over a year.

The couple had their eldest child,  Apple, born in May 2004, and their son, Moses, born in April 2006.

Over a decade ago in March 2014, the actress announced that she and the singer had separated, describing the process as ‘conscious uncoupling’.

Since their divorce, the co-parents have remained close and shared updates including major family events and holidays with their other partners.

Gwyneth has been married to Brad Falchuk since 2018 after dating since 2014. Chris has been dating Fifty Shades of Grey actress Dakota Johnson since 2017 and the pair have been engaged for several years.
