WhatsApp is definitely on a spree to launch new features to provide a better user experience to the masses. Now, in a recent update, the Meta-owned instant messaging platform has allowed users to add and manage their contacts from any device linked to their account.
Previously, users were only able to add contacts from their primary smartphone by either entering the phone number manually or by scanning the QR code.

But now, they will be able to add and manage contacts from any of the linked devices or versions like WhatsApp Web or WhatsApp Windows and other linked devices as well. And that’s not the whole story, WhatsApp is also bringing a new option to save a contact.

Now, people will be able to save a contact specifically on WhatsApp. This feature is going to work as a boon for the people who share their phone with others or want a separate business or personal contact. All the contacts saved directly on WhatsApp can be restored in case the user loses the phone or changes their primary device. The feature will also be of great help for the users who manage more than one WhatsApp account on their device.
The updates will most probably be able to save contacts with usernames in the future. Not to forget, that usernames on WhatsApp will increase the amount of privacy for the users as they will not be supposed to share their phone number with everyone and can be super selective in doing that. Speculations are that we will get to see more related to the username feature in future updates of the application.
