Princess Sofia and Prince Carl Philip of Sweden will be welcoming a new member to their family this year. When the Swedish Royal Court announced Sofia's pregnancy back in September, it was revealed at the time that the birth was expected to take place in February of 2025.

The baby will be the couple's fourth child. Sofia and Carl Philip are already parents to sons Prince Alexander, Prince Gabriel and Prince Julian.

Speaking to Vogue Scandinavia for the magazine's December/January issue, Sofia shared that she "always, always, always dreamt of a family." She said, "It’s one of my biggest goals in life. Not everyone has that – I had that."

The Princess, 40, continued, “Both me and my husband come from a family of five – with three kids – so we thought that that would be a good number, and we felt quite satisfied with that. But, gratefully, there’s a bonus on the way. We feel very humble and grateful. It was maybe not in the plan, but now we are very, very excited. Especially the kids.”

Sofia also told the magazine that she's "very grateful" for her family and still has "dreams for the future.” She said, "I still have a lot of things I want to learn, I want to have new experiences and do new projects and of course go through life with my kids and the stages they are in."

"I have a life that I’m very grateful for, I have a family that I’m very grateful for,” the Princess added. “I actually feel I’m in the best place I’ve ever been in life."

Sofia has been married to King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia's son since 2015. She and Prince Carl Philip became first-time parents in 2016 with the birth of Prince Alexander. Their second child, Prince Gabriel, was born in 2017, followed by Prince Julian in 2021. Days after Julian's arrival, Princess Sofia wrote on Instagram, “Life has given me not just one but four beautiful princes❤.”

The Prince Couple's kids are members of the Swedish royal family, but not the royal house. In 2019, King Carl XVI Gustaf removed his son Prince Carl Philip and daughter Princess Madeleine's respective children from the royal house. At the time, Sofia and Carl Philip said (translated to English): "We see this as positive as Alexander and Gabriel will have freer choices in life. They will retain their prince titles and their duchies, Södermanland and Dalarna, which we value and are proud of. Our family has strong connections to both landscapes and we maintain our commitment there. We will continue to focus on our heart issues and commitment. We will also continue to support the King and the Crown Princess - our future head of state - and participate in the King's activities in the way we wish.”
