When Did Steven and Justin Assanti Appear on My 600-Lb Life’?
Steven weighed nearly 800 pounds and Justin tipped the scales at almost 600 pounds when they appeared on season 5 of the TLC show.
Steven struggled to lose weight and was kicked out of the hospital at one point for misusing substances. Justin fared better, eventually becoming a candidate for bariatric surgery.
In 2019, the brothers returned to the show and gave fans an update on how they are doing with their weight loss journeys.
This time, it was Justin’s turn to go under the knife and he was finally ready to go through with it. Justin said that he was prepared to move to Houston to get the same surgery that his brother had done a while back, but it required him to meet the goal weight that Dr. Now gave him. On top of that, he also needed to get “tested” in order to be approved for the procedure.
Steven offered to be there for Justin’s surgery, but it seemed like his brother wasn’t too keen on the idea. “There are a lot of things I’m not looking forward to right now,” Justin said while chatting with the camera crew. “There’s a part of me that just wants to forget about going down, and I’m not happy Steven’s going to be around because I know he’s just going to try to annoy me.”
“I want to be done and move back up here to Rhode Island and get as far away from Steven again as possible,” Justin added. Steven has been one of the most controversial stars on the show, as he used to throw tantrums, secretly order take out, abuse painkillers and go off on YouTube rants.
Steven Assanti Got Married
Steven tied the knot with his wife, Stephanie, during a romantic ceremony in 2018 and he wasn’t shy about his feelings for her. “I want everyone to continue to know your the reason why I look forward to my future, our future and I hope it grows bigger, your the best baby real talk. Keepin ten toes down fellas,” he wrote about his blushing bride in February of that year.
It’s unclear if the pair are still married as of 2024, as Stephanie no longer appears on Steven’s Instagram page.
Steven Assanti Lost Weight But Is Still Battling Health Issues
“I’m standing at 790 pounds, the painkillers must be strong,” Steven captioned an Instagram post on June 24, 2024, which featured a Cameo greeting video he made for a My 600-lb Life fan. On August 7, 2024, Steven shared a photo of him appearing morbidly obese in a bed, writing, “1150 to 750, 400 pounds lost,” in the caption.
Sadly, it appeared Steven’s health took a turn for the worse the following month, as he shared another Cameo video taken while he was in a hospital bed along with the caption, “Not feeling well.”
Steven claimed in an October 24, 2024, Instagram video that he was “a year and a half clean” from drugs after having an “awakening.”
Justin Assanti Is Thriving in Work and Health
As of 2024, Justin is living in Cranston, Rhode Island, where he works as a digital creator. He lists himself as “single” on his Facebook page, where he shows off the Warhammer figures he creates.
The reality star gave an update on his life during a candid “Ask Me Anything” on Reddit in 2019, which he later deleted. Justin revealed that he lost an impressive 200 pounds since filming, and was focused on keeping his business, Hobby Haven, thriving while continuing to work on his health. Photos and selfies on his Facebook page in 2024 showed he’s kept the weight off.
