Red Ribbed Knitted Midi Dress

Knitted dresses are such a staple for the colder months, and Whistles’ Red Ribbed Knitted Midi Dress is the perfect shade for December events - in fact, I think it could be a stunning Christmas Day option. It usually retails on the site for £159 but it's been reduced to £79. The jumper-style frock comes in both red and grey and is available in sizes XS to XL.

With a thick ribbed knit style from head to toe, the dress has a subtle turtle neck and relatively relaxed fit with slightly dropped shoulders. Ideal for those colder days where you just want to be snuggled up in your favourite knit wear, the dress is crafted with a wool blend consisting of 40% RWS certified wool, which'll guarantee you stay toasty in and outside.

Go casual with your favourite trainers and oversized coat for a brunch date, or a drink at the pub with your favourite knee high boots and leather jacket. You can even dress it up with your go-to gold strappy heels (like these discounted Pewter Lena Heeled sandals, now £109) and some statement jewellery and a matching red lip.

Black Metallic Stripe Midi Dress

This is a dress born for the work’s Christmas party if ever I saw one. Now £119, down from £189, the Metallic Stripe Midi Dress features a flattering V-shaped neckline and semi-sheer blouson sleeves. Designed to accompany you to any after-dark events or evening celebrations, the black dress stars all-over metallic dobby-spot stripes which will look dreamy as the glitter on the dancefloor.

Shoppers have been swooning over this number, and it’s not hard to see why. One said: “Beautiful dress, looks absolutely amazing on, gives u a lovely shape. Also when U walk the silver really sparkles. Can't wait to wear it-perfect for this time of year.”

Though another removed a star due to the zip, commenting: “Lovely dress. Floaty and pretty. The cut is flattering - not clingy at all. Gave 4 stars as zip is very stiff and difficult to do up.”

This dress actually reminds us a lot of the Textured V-Neck Midi Relaxed Dress, which Dawn French wears in the Marks and Spencer advert. It comes in at £45, but the majority of sizes are already sold out. The Whistles number is a very stylish alternative.

Green Brushwork Print Mesh Dress

If you’re looking for something you can wear throughout the holidays, but still throw in your summer suitcase, too then I love this Brushwork Print Mesh Dress, which we saw Josie Gibson wear on This Morning back in August. Now £109, shoppers can save £50 on the original RRP.

The green shade nods to the festive period without leaning too heavily, and can be glammed up with metallic accessories to make it feel more Christmassy. The midi number, available in sizes 4-20, has a unique brushwork print to draw focus, while ruched detailing around the waist delivers a ‘timeless’ and flattering silhouette. Falling to a midi length, it’s complete with a round neck and long sleeves, and is perfect for pairing with heels, sandals or trainers.

If like us you were glued to the Olympics earlier this year, you’ll have seen Rebecca Adlington sporting this Purple Sketched Cheetah Dobby Dress, which sent her followers rushing to buy it. Originally £179, it’s down to £125 in the sale.

Available in sizes 4-20, it comes in a purple shade, with short sleeves and a cheetah print all over.

It’s a little summery for this time of year, but perfect for weekend outings and even more elegant occasions like a wedding. You could still certainly wear it as part of your winter wardrobe paired with a chunky lilac knit and some boots, though.
