The equestrian professional was a family woman who ran a successful horse training business with her husband, Simon Schröeder, until she caught him cheating on her with Teddi Mellencamp. In Touch confirmed in November 2024 that Simon and the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum were having an affair, and people want to know more about Karli amid the infidelity scandal.
Where Is Karli Postel From?
Karli was born and raised in Westlake Village, California, and grew up around horses as her family ran the local Foxfield Riding School. After honing in on the equitation and jumper rings during the latter half of high school, she continued her passion for riding and showcasing horses in college.

In 2023, Teddi and her horse Toad joined Schroeder Sporthouses.
“Teddi was unique in a lot of ways, because she saw the potential in this horse, and she saw all the beautiful pieces. A lot of people probably would have given up in the process of trying to put it all together, because it hasn’t necessarily been the most straightforward process,” Karli explained to the outlet. “But she stayed the course. On good days and bad days, she’s found nice things to say about the horse and reasons to keep going. So I think in that way, she’s a special amateur, in that she doesn’t give up.”
The following year, In Touch confirmed that Teddi and Simon had an affair.
“Teddi is Simon’s biggest client,” a source exclusively told In Touch at the time. “Teddi and his wife, Karli Postel Schröeder, were good friends for seven [to] eight years. Karli confronted Teddi about the affair when she found inappropriate text messages on Simon’s phone [and] Teddi promised it would not happen again.”
After Karli allowed her husband one pass, the reality star and Simon continued to see each other and their physical connection turned “emotional.” Once Karli “re-discovered the affair was still happening,” she separated their business, the insider noted.
It’s unclear if Karli and Simon are still together as of publication. However, Kari dropped “Schröeder” as her last name while competing at the USHJA National Hunter Derby in 2024, going by her maiden last name. Karli won the event and took home $25,000.
Neither Karli, Simon nor Teddi have publicly addressed the affair.
