Who's Backing Kamala Harris: Beyoncé, Eminem, LeBron, and More

2 weeks ago 3

We’re now less than a day, mere hours in fact, from the 2024 presidential election. To put it mildly, it’s been a hell of a ride thus far, with current POTUS Joe Biden stepping aside in July, thus clearing the way for Kamala Harris, his VP, to become the Democratic nominee. Former POTUS Donald Trump’s ear, meanwhile, was grazed by a bullet during a rally in Pennsylvania that same month.

The months have since have been replete with endorsements for both sides, with Harris, expectedly, garnering support from some of the most preeminent stars of our time. Beyoncé, for example, recently spoke at a Harris rally in her hometown of Houston, telling the crowd that the current VP is “a woman who’s been pushing for what this country really needs right now, unity.”

Below, we take a look at more of the biggest names who have thrown their proverbial weight behind the Harris campaign. As for the election itself, that's set for Tuesday, Nov. 5. If you’re lucky, you’ve been able to take advantage of some manner of early voting, thus ensuring you don’t have to trek out into the madness on Election Day. If not, here's what you need to grab before heading to the polls.

Beyoncé

“I’m not here as a celebrity, I’m not here as a politician. I’m here as a mother,” the 32-time Grammy winner said in Houston in October. “A mother who cares deeply about the world my children and all of our children live in. A world where we have the freedom to control our bodies, a world where we’re not divided. Our past, our present, our future merged to meet us here.”

Taylor Swift

“I’m voting for [Harris] because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them,” the Tortured Poets Department artist wrote in an Instagram-shared endorsement in September. “I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos.”

Eminem

“I don’t think anyone wants an America where people are worried about retribution or what people will do if you make your opinion known,” Em said when introducing former POTUS Barack Obama at a Detroit rally in October. “I think Vice President Harris supports a future for this country where these freedoms and many others will be protected and upheld.”

Cardi B

“I wasn’t gonna vote this year,” Cardi said at a campaign event in Milwaukee in October. “I wasn’t. But Kamala Harris joining the race, she changed my mind completely. I did not have faith in any candidates until she joined the race and said the things that I wanted to hear, that I want to see next in this country.”

Sexyy Red

“I just voted!” Sexyy, who previously expressed “love” for Trump in a Theo Von chat in 2023, told fans at the top of November. “Don’t tell us what to do with our coochies!”

GloRilla

In October, Glo shared a video breaking down four reasons to vote for Harris on Election Day. Listed in Glo’s video were the following issues: a woman’s right to choose, protection of the LGBTQIA+ community, public education funding, and an increase of the federal minimum wage.

Harrison Ford

“I’m Harrison Ford. I’ve got one vote, same as anyone else, and I’m going to use it to move forward,” the Star Wars and Indiana Jones actor said in a series of videos released in November. “I’m going to vote for Kamala Harris.” Per Ford, Harris is a candidate who will protect the “right to disagree” through debate, while Trump only wants “unquestioning loyalty” and “revenge.”

Lady Gaga

“It’s time to get ready to vote,” Gaga said in a short Instagram video in early November, one day before the “Disease” artist’s scheduled Harris rally appearance. “I’ll see you guys in Pennsylvania.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger

“I will always be an American before I am a Republican,” the Terminator actor and former California governor said in a statement shared to X in October. “That’s why, this week, I am voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. I’m sharing it with all of you because I think there are a lot of you who feel like I do. You don’t recognize our country. And you are right to be furious.”

LeBron James

“When I think about my kids and my family and how they will grow up, the choice is clear to me,” James wrote in an Instagram update in October, urging fans to join him in voting for Harris.

Billie Eilish and Finneas

“We are voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz because they are fighting to protect our reproductive freedom, our planet and our democracy,” Eilish said in a joint video statement in September alongside her brother and musical collaborator, Finneas.

Jennifer Lopez

“You know what? We should be emotional,” Lopez told the crowd at a Harris event in Las Vegas in October. “We should be upset. We should be scared and outraged. Our pain matters. We matter. You matter. Your voice and your vote matters.

Bad Bunny

The “Una Velita” artist showed his support for Harris after a comedian at Trump’s Madison Square Garden event in October referred to his home country of Puerto Rico as “a floating island of garbage.” While Bad Bunny didn’t share a lengthy statement, and a rep was quoted in a CNN piece as clarifying the move as him “supporting” Harris but not a formal endorsement, the impact of a star of his caliber boosting Harris’ Puerto Rico plans is undeniable.

Madonna

“Paris was so fun,” Madonna told her nearly 20 million Instagram followers in October. “It was hard to leave, but I had to come home to vote Kamala Harris for president.”

Samuel L. Jackson

“We can’t stop now, Georgia,” the prolific actor, who also tucked in a joke about his preferred example of profanity, said at a Harris event in October. “We got days to close which way our country is gonna go from here, which way our future is gonna go from here. That’s why I’m so fired up to be here with y’all. And that’s why I’m so proud to support our next president of the United States, Kamala Harris.”

Don Omar

“I trust [Harris] represents the respect and change our communities need, and I believe she can open a new path forward—one that uplifts, empowers, and prioritizes dignity for all,” the “Sandunga” rapper said in an Instagram-shared statement in October. “It's time to turn the page. We are not going back.”

Avengers cast

Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Don Cheadle, Danai Gurira, Chris Evans, and Paul Bettany reteamed for a video in support of helping to “get out the vote.” In it, the Marvel stars jokingly proposed ideas for a new Kamala catchphrase. Ruffalo got a bit more specific when sharing the clip to social media, calling this election “the one where we will lose big” if it goes the wrong way.

Spike Lee

“I’m dropping science right here,” the hugely influential filmmaker told Harris supporters in Georgia in October. “No matter what kind of shenanigans, skullduggery, and subterfuge, the okey-doke, the flimflam. We’re not going for that. Are we going for that? Hell no.”

Gracie Abrams

“We’ve been through some things,” Abrams, 25, said at a rally in Wisconsin in October when reflecting on the unique position her generation finds itself in due to everything from the pandemic to the inescapability of social media. “It’s easy to be discouraged, but we know better. We know that unless we vote and keep our democracy intact, there is nothing we will be able to do to fix it when it is our turn. And I’m here tonight, as I know so many of you are, because we each have something deeply meaningful to contribute.”

Leonardo DiCaprio

The Oscar-winning actor, a longtime advocate for sensible climate change policies, said in a video shared to Instagram in October that he was voting for Harris because a “bold step” is needed to move this key issue further down the field.

“Climate change is killing the earth and ruining our economy,” he said.
