Why It Was Dumb to Murder Dorinda Medley on The Traitors

If there was one thing I was extremely excited about when it came to Season 3 of The Traitors, it was to see Dorinda Medley’s face again. The former Real Housewives of New York star is a force to be reckoned with. She fears nothing and understands the British sense of humor. I had all the faith in the world that she was going to go a long way. But then the Traitors go and murder her on night one. Honestly, what the heck were you guys thinking?

Dorinda Medley was the perfect decoy

During her short time on The Traitors, Dorinda made sure to cause chaos. And as a Traitor, you would want someone great at causing a diversion. So I have to ask, “Traitors, why did you do Dorinda like that?” It was such a dumb game move, which doesn’t give me hope about the rest of your gameplay. Just like Carolyn Wiger noted, Dorinda would have been a great faithful to keep around because she would have taken the target off of everyone and she’s vocal.

Honestly, if the Traitors had a brain between them, they would’ve kept Dorinda. She would have worked hard at every challenge because she is so competitive. Not only would they have won more money for the bank because of D, but they wouldn’t have had to worry about carrying dead weight around. I also think Dorinda could have been an asset to the Traitors thanks to her ability to talk about everything. If ideas were floating around, Dorinda would have been one of the first to speak on them – essentially being a secret agent for the Traitors without her ever knowing.

Dorinda Medley makes for some great TV

I knew the Traitors made a mistake, but I didn’t realize how much I needed Dorinda back on my small screen. I mean, she is the “make it nice” queen for a reason. I’ve waited years for Dorinda to be taken off pause, and then these pigeons go and murder the eagle. Watching her on the raft with Dolores Catania was everything. The two OGs didn’t realize that by sacrificing themselves, they had just turned into a big target. But perhaps it was Dorinda’s sentiment that slayed me as she pointed out, “See, generosity never works.”

When questioned about why she was one of the first to jump off she snapped back. “I don’t have an agenda when I saw Dolores get off as a fellow housewife. As a woman. As someone who is loyal as someone who is protective. Someone who is a mama bear who is working for the team.” It was only night one, and she was ready to tear the royal’s head off. Also, let’s not forget that the men aboard the boat practically refused to let go of an oar. So, who else was going to sacrifice themselves for the greater good? I can’t stop thinking of all the iconic moments we have been robbed of.

Dorinda Medley could have been a contender

I wish I could say, “Give us Dorinda or give us death,” but it seems death came calling much quicker than I anticipated. To say that most of us were shocked by her murder is probably the understatement of the year. Why Dorinda? Why not Chanel Ayan or Robyn Dixon? It turns out Dorinda is a bit miffed that she couldn’t make the Scottish Highlands her home for longer. She revealed to DECIDER that she “cried her eyes out.” So did we, D!

The former RHONY star said, “When I saw that envelope, it was so unexpected.” especially since she had so many “fabulous outfits” packed. She added, “I just think they realized that the Housewives are strong characters. We’re opinionated, and we’re strong. I think people especially think of me as a strong woman who’s been through a lot of stuff and doesn’t take a lot of bullsh*t.” So, while I am still not over losing Dorinda, I hope the Traitors stop targeting the Real Housewives. For the Traitors, I think Carolyn has amazing critical thinking skills but just needs to work on explaining herself. I don’t want to see her steamed rolled again.
