With Season 1 now having ended, Newsweek has taken a look at the likelihood of second outing of Skeleton Crew making it to screens.

How Did 'Skeleton Crew' End?

SPOILER ALERT: The season finale of Skeleton Crew, titled "The Real Good Guys," followed pirate captain Jod Na Nawood (Jude Law) as he embarked on his final attempt to seize control of the Republic Mint on the planet At Attin.

While Jod's initially convinced citizens that he was the Republic Emissary, his false identity as a Jedi was exposed after he confronted the planet's Supervisor, which was revealed to be an AI droid overseeing "The Great Work." In turn, Jod destroyed the Supervisor, shutting down the safety droids and causing a blackout in the city.

Amid the subsequent chaos and threat of invasion, youngsters Wim (Ravi Cabot-Conyers), Fern (Ryan Kiera Armstrong), KB (Kyriana Kratter), and Neel (Robert Timothy Smith) raced to the Onyx Cinder in a bid to save the planet.

Once the ship was locked into place, Wim distracted Jod, allowing Wendle (Tunde Adebimpe) to restore power. This allowed KB to fly the ship past the barrier isolating At Attin, and repaired droid SM-33 (Nick Frost) to call map expert Kh'ymm (Alia Shawkat) for help before the Onyx Cinder was shot down.

In a resulting struggle, Jod lost his lightsaber as a barrier was destroyed, which allowed the New Republic forces to enter and battle the pirates and defeat Jod. KB was found alive at the Onyx Cinder crash site shortly before the New Republic ships were shown arriving.

Will There Be a Season 2?

Disney has yet to officially confirm whether Skeleton Crew will return to screens for a second season. Series co-creators Watts and Ford last year discussed the challenges other outings of the show would face, given that the main characters are children.

Watts told Collider that they "100 percent have an idea for a second season and know what we would do," adding that they "have a built-in ticking clock of the kids and their age, and by the time we would get production going, we know what age they would be.

"So, we would be writing toward that. You'll be growing up with the kids," Watts said.

"It would be something like [a three- to four-year time jump] to make sense," he added. "But we wouldn't do like a Stranger Things thing where we're, like, 'It's the next day,' because it won't be."

Noting another issue, Ford added: "It's built into it that it would be a bigger time jump forward because it does take so long to get things moving. There are so many repercussions. It's. like, you kind of want to catch up later."

When Does 'Skeleton Crew' Take Place?

The show is set nine years after the fall of the Galactic Empire, a fictional autocracy in the Star Wars franchise.
