William and Kate’s ‘Bond Is Stronger Than Ever’ Amid the Princess’ Return to Public Royal Duties

Princess Kate and Prince William were deprived of time to themselves as a couple for large parts of 2024, but they’re making up for it now and enjoying more romantic dates now she’s fully on the mend from her cancer bout, a source exclusively tells In Touch

The princess, 42, announced in March she’d be undergoing chemotherapy treatments. The course lasted months, until finally, in September 2024 the palace gave the good news that Kate was cancer-free and would be ending her regime. While she was out of the running for a while – mostly staying in and looking after the kids during her time recovering – she’s made a triumphant return to public life in the past few months. She attended the Festival of Remembrance at Royal Albert Hall on November 9 and the Remembrance Day service, watched from a balcony above the Cenotaph, the following day. Most recently, she accompanied her heir-apparent hubby in his royal duties during the emir of Qatar’s two-day official state visit.

“The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family,” Kate explained. “Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes. I am, however, looking forward to being back at work and undertaking a few more public engagements in the coming months when I can.”

With Kate’s schedule filling back up, the source notes that the royal couple has been “making a serious effort to carve out more quality time together,” adding that when they’re successful, “It’s clear they’re loving every minute of it.”

The couple share three children together: Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6, who are often spotted along with their parents, as they’ve taken a more active role rearing their kids than monarchs of the past.

With a busy home life, the royal insider says it can be tough for the couple to find time to spend with each other alone, but they make it happen.

“They tend to stay home but they’re now talking about stepping out more often, going for nights at private members clubs with friends like they used to do. But it’s not just about nights out, the simple, cozy nights in, where they cook a nice meal and cuddle on the couch with a movie are what they enjoy most.”

With the kids at home and one nanny between the three of them, the Waleses usually have to find some sort of alternate activity for their little ones when they want some alone time. “They’re planning to send the kids off for sleepovers with friends,” the insider says, “so they can have some much-needed ‘mum and dad’ time at home.”

“Their bond is stronger than ever, and it’s clear their relationship is in a very good place right now,” the source adds.

“Kate has even been gushing about how handsome William looks with his beard. It reminds her of the days when he was training with the Royal navy when they were much younger so it definitely brings back fond memories.”
