A Baltimore woman stands accused of stabbing her sister to death after the two of them got in a fight after a wedding last summer. And what she allegedly told cops is… mind-boggling.

Back in August, cops say Brianna Jarrells (pictured above left, in her mugshot) got in a fight with her sister Alyssa Jarrells (pictured above, right, with her family) after the two of them attended a wedding together in the Maryland city. While out celebrating a friend’s nuptials on the night of August 24, they got into a minor argument. According to CBSWBAL, and others citing court documents, that squabble then continued to escalate all night — even after they returned home.

Witnesses who were at the home during the argument’s late-night escalation were unable to tell cops what even started the spat, per WMAR. But at one point, a witness reported seeing the sisters fighting near their car before hearing Alyssa scream “oh my God,” and then collapse onto the ground with Brianna standing over her.

Alyssa had been stabbed in the neck, and was bleeding profusely. She didn’t die right away, though. Instead, she survived long enough for responding officers to show up to the scene. Per WMAR, when one cop asked the wounded woman who had attacked her, Alyssa pointed to her sister and said:

“Right there.”

Whoa…

Alyssa was transported to a local hospital by first responders, but shockingly she was soon pronounced dead.

Cops took Brianna into custody after Alyssa’s dying declaration and interrogated her later that night. During the interrogation, Brianna allegedly admitted that she “used a utility knife” in an attempt to intimidate her sister. However, she maintained she had never intended to stab her. Police documents later reported finding a utility knife not far from where Alyssa had fallen.

Per CBS News, Brianna told detectives:

“I never actually tried, I pinned it up to her as a warning, I need to shut the f**k up.”

At that point, officers informed Brianna that Alyssa had actually died from the wound. The 29-year-old reportedly responded with shock before breaking down in tears:

“Oh f**k! I thought I just nipped her!”

Tragically, Alyssa was a mother of three young children — two sons and a daughter. A GoFundMe page was set up not long after her death in August; it is still active now, and as of Friday night, it has raised more than $14,000 to help her grieving children and partner. You can view that page HERE.

Here’s more info on the case from Brianna’s arrest back in August, too:

So terrible. Our thoughts are with Alyssa’s family, friends, and loved ones — and especially her three children who will now grow up without a mother after this senseless, unnecessary act.
