Xzibit was ordered to appear before a judge after his estranged wife, Krista Joiner, demanded the rapper be found in contempt of court, In Touch can exclusively report.
According to court documents obtained by In Touch, Krista accused Xzibit, 50, of failing to pay his court-ordered child and spousal support for December 2024.
In addition, she claimed that he sold or transferred assets, which Krista believes are community property, despite their divorce yet to be finalized.
Krista claimed Xzibit violated the court order when he sold off the assets in question.
In her filing, Krista said her ex was ordered to pay $1,688 per month in child support and another $3,075 per month in spousal support.
The court issued the order in July 2023. Krista said that her ex failed to make the support payments due on December 25, 2024. Further, she said the entertainer was ordered to pay her legal team $230,000 but has only paid $140,000.
She said he still owes $90,000. Krista said Xzibit owes a total of $94,763.
Regarding the sale of an asset, Krista claimed Xzibit “executed an asset purchase agreement for the sale of certain assets related to a cannabis business” on July 13, 2023.
Krista said the sale price was listed as $724,000 and the buyer assumed certain liabilities in the deal. “All of the assets of the cannabis business were sold, including three trademarks registered with the United States Patent & Trademark Office,” her filing said.
The trademarks that were sold included the mark Brass Knuckles for use in clothing, vapes and cartridges.
Dr. Dre and Xzibit were involved in a four-year legal battle over Brass Knuckles, which they ended up being victorious in. Xzibit has yet to respond to his ex’s attempt to have him found in contempt.
A judicial officer signed off on the request for a hearing.
The order read, “You are ordered to appear in this court as follows, to give any legal reason why this court should not find you guilty of contempt, punish you for willfully disobeying its order.”
As In Touch previously reported, Krista filed for divorce in 2021 after six years of marriage. The duo share a son named Gatlyn.
The exes had another son Xaiver, who died in 2008, days after his premature birth. The rapper and Krista have been in and out of court ever since the divorce was filed.
In 2022, Xzibit told the court his income had drastically decreased. He argued his ex did not need support. Krista scoffed at her ex’s claims he was pulling in less money than previously.
Krista believed Xzibit was pulling in a seven-figure sum every month from his cannabis business. She claimed a family member told her that Xzibit had so much money he was storing some in “bank-sized vaults.”
The rapper denied the claims he stores cash in vaults. In 2023, the court awarded Krista monthly spousal and child support until a final decision can be reached. A trial date is scheduled for February 24, 2025.
As In Touch first reported, Xzibit was dropped by his former lawyer earlier this year due to a “breakdown” in the relationship. In addition, the lawyer said a “balance” was due.
The rapper quickly hired a new attorney named Roslyn Soudry to take over. The case is ongoing.
