If you’re anything like us, the awards show season began even earlier than you expected. After all, while you might’ve already seen a few of the talked-about movies, many of them have yet to be released to the public.
So, of course, now that the Golden Globe nominations are officially out (they were announced by Mindy Kaling and Morris Chestnut on Dec. 9), we all have some homework to do.
But while that might entail streaming some movies like Emilia Pérez and Challengers or heading to the movie theaters to see some new releases like Wicked, Conclave and Anora, you’re preemptive research might include reading some of the books the movies are based on too! After all, given that nine of the Golden Globe-nominated movies are based on books, reading them before seeing them might bring on the full experience. Plus, there’s nothing quite like watching a movie that you’ve already seen come to mind in your head while reading it, right?
Among the book-into-movie adaptations this year are Nightbitch by Rachel Yoder, The Nickel Boys by Colson Whitehead, and What Are You Going Through by Sigrid Nunez.
Check out all the books that inspired Golden Globe-nominated movies below!
