Young Thug appeared in court this week donning a sweet message for his girlfriend of three years, R&B singer Mariah the Scientist.
As reported by TMZ, on Thursday (Oct. 24), the Business Is Business artist walked into court proceedings wearing a black hoodie reading “I ❤️ Mariah.” The dedication came just a few weeks after his girlfriend was denied a virtual jail visitation during their third anniversary.
In a clip from the mishap, Mariah explained that she'd gone to Party City on her way to the Fulton County Jail, where she'd bought a "Happy Anniversary" banner. But upon arriving at the institution, the To Be Eaten Alive artist was told their system was down.
"I done drove all the way to this motherfucking jail. The jail is like thirty minutes away from the city," Mariah said at the time. "It's not face-to-face, it's through a screen by the way. I done drove all the the way to this motherfucking jail with my little 'Happy Anniversary' sign and my motherfucking Scotch Tape for me to get inside of the jail and for them to say the system is down."
Although frustrated, Mariah suggested that she'd try to visit again in the future. "I done did all this shit and now I can't see my man on my anniversary," she added. "It's always some shit, huh? That's okay. That's fine. It's whatever, I'll try it again."
We all probably remember Mariah and Young Thug's infamous leaked virtual call from January, but the controversy seemed to make the couple's relationship stronger. In a September episode of Angel Reese-hosted podcast Unapologetically Angel, Mariah said she enjoys visiting Thugger as often as she can. During the episode, Mariah also answered a collect call from the Atlanta rapper.
"It’s cute, you know. I love him," Mariah told Reese and fellow guest, Latto, around the 32-minute mark below. "It is kind of like [long-distance] but I get to see him in court, so I be going to court. Sometimes I fall asleep in there. I just go to breathe his air… I love my man, yes. I love him."
She continued:, "It’s hard… If somebody told me that a few months into my relationship my man would get locked up? He’s been locked up now for longer than we were in a relationship before he got locked up."
With Young Thug's YSL trial inching towards the one-year mark, it may soon be declared a mistrial without prejudice due to prosecution, as indicated by Judge Paige Reese Whitaker on Wednesday (Oct. 23).
