Young Thug has linked back up with his fellow Atlantan T.I. following his widely celebrated release from jail.
Monday, Tip shared a short video to his Instagram showing the two together. In it, Thug is asked what he has ready to “tell these people.’ Per Thug, his current feelings can be succinctly summarized in a few words.
“Back. Back, Jack,” he said in the clip. “You dig? No cap in my rap. The right way. The right way, bruh.”
In the caption to his post, T.I. added, “The kings have reconvened.” He also joked that he was “officially outta retirement,” at least “for tonight.”
Last week, the Grand Hustle co-founder joined in on the celebrations of Thug’s release with a throwback photo, adding in a timely “welcome home” message for his fellow artist and “About the Money” collaborator.
“It’s been too long,” he said at the time, adding that it was “time to get back to it.”
The two, pictured up top at Thug’s birthday party in Atlanta in 2017, have multiple songs together in their respective back catalogs. Among them are “The Weekend,” “Ring,” “I Need War,” “Off-Set,” “Peanut Butter Jelly” (also featuring Young Dro), and more.
Thug pleaded guilty to six charges in his widely criticized, hiccups-filled RICO trial in Georgia last week. By Oct. 31, word had been broken that he was headed home, albeit with some stipulations. Amid coverage of the case, an issue frequently and rightfully given attention was what many critics argued to be the criminalization of artistic expression. A petition aimed at protecting Black art was launched in November 2022. It has since amassed more than 97,000 signatures.
