'YSL perfume that gets me compliments every time I wear it now has £40 off'

Every time I wear YSL’s Black Opium Over Red perfume I get compliments from everyone on how nice it smells, and now you can get £40 off in Debenhams’ Cyber Monday sale

One of the best compliments to get is how nice you smell, and that’s exactly what happens every time I wear my Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium Over Red Eau de Parfum. A cherry infused updated version of YSL’s signature Black Opium fragrance, Over Red is sweet, light and sensual – the perfect fragrance for the festive season.

Although it’s usually a little expensive – a 90ml bottle costs £131 – Debenhams’ Cyber Monday sale has just slashed it by £40, taking it to £91.70. Although that might seem like a splurge, a small amount goes a long way and you can still smell it at the end of the day, so a massive 90ml bottle should last you a long time.

If the 90ml bottle is still a little expensive for you, the 50ml bottle has been reduced from £96 to £67.20, whilst the 30ml option is now £47.60 after being reduced from £68.

The Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium Over Red has a beautifully sweet scent without being sickly, and combines dark black coffee, white flowers and cherry accord. The top notes are juicy cherry and mandarin essence for a zesty hit, and it follows up with heart notes of jasmine flower, black tea and orange blossom absolute.

However it's the base notes that linger the most, with black coffee accord, vanilla infusion and patchouli heart giving it a sweet, rich scent that everyone who smells it is quick to pick up on. Even the bottle has been given a refresh, coming in a translucent deep red glass bottle that has a jewel-like effect.

You don’t just have to take my word for it either; Debenhams shoppers have given it a 4.7 out of 5 star rating, with more than 1600 five star ratings. One wrote: “Lovely smooth sweet scent. Received many compliments when i wear it.”

Another agreed: “This fragrance is perfection. The name could not be more suitable. My favorite fragrances from YSL include Black Opium Extreme (men LOVE this fragrance - will stop them and compel them to compliment me when I am wearing it. Even had a law enforcement officer come up to me and say, Ma'am that perfume you are wearing smells so good.) and Libre Intense, and Libre Flames and Flowers. Red lasts a good long while, and it comes out smelling divine then settles into this deep smoky perfection on my skin. Love it.”

Whilst a third penned: “Absolutely gorgeous scent . Lasted all day with just a dab. I need a bigger bottle.”

However some weren’t as taken, with one writing: “In the right hands this scent is great but the scent of cherries is off putting to me,” while another agreed: “YSL, is an amazing fragrance company the perfume was delicious. However, I felt a bit overwhelmed with the scent of vanilla, if it were a bit more bitter, I would have loved it.”

Although some Debenhams shoppers aren’t as much of a fan as I am, over at Look Fantastic – where it’s also on sale down from £131 to £104.80 – it’s gotten an even more stellar 4.9 star rating. One said: “This has to be the new favourite by by black opium, good for day and night and lasts for hours!”

Whilst another wrote: “Love the black opium perfumes. Does not disappoint. Smells amazing. Smell lasts too. Had many compliments when wearing it. Highly recommend.”
