Zach Bryan’s love life came under scrutiny after Brianna “Chickenfry” LaPaglia’s abuse claims — but who else has he dated?
The country singer has been married once and went public with one other relationship before his romance with LaPaglia began in July 2023.
While Bryan does not often dish on his significant others, they are clear inspirations for his hit songs.
“I hate the man I am / But I’ll love him when you’re mine,” he sang in “Mine,” released in May 2020. “When you are mine / No, I ain’t so angry / When you are mine / This world don’t owe me a thing.”
The performer later confirmed that the song was about his ex-wife, Rose Madden.
Get to know Bryan’s former spouse as well as ex-girlfriends Deb Peifer and LaPaglia below.

Bryan and Madden served in the US Navy together before tying the knot in July 2020.
The duo divorced the following year, which Madden confirmed in a May 2021 TikTok video.
“when your ex husband moves out, and you are now forced to cook potatoes with a f–king pumpkin pie mold,” she captioned the footage.
Madden’s middle name is Elisabeth, according to Holler, leading fans to believe she is the inspiration behind Bryan’s 2020 album of the same name.
While a photo of them was initially featured on the cover of the record, it has since been changed to a black background on streaming services.
Madden has since moved on from their marriage, revealing in February 2024 that she is dating a man named Sebastian.
Deb Peifer
Bryan began dating Peifer in early 2022 but announced their “mutual” split in May of the following year.
“For transparency and with respect I am letting everyone know Debra and me went our separate ways about a week and a half ago,” he wrote on X in 2023. “We’re leaving with plenty [of] memories and good times.”
After being “alone for a bit,” Peifer told her TikTok followers in September 2024 that she was dating again.
Brianna “Chickenfry” LaPaglia
LaPaglia confirmed her and Bryan’s “fun and casual” romance in a July 2023 “PlanBri Uncut” podcast episode after “three weeks [of] … hanging out.”
The couple packed on the PDA while making their red carpet debut at the Grammys in February of the following year.
For their first anniversary, Bryan gushed on social media, “I love you so much Brianna. Just about one of the only people that makes me laugh anymore and OFTEN. Proud to call you my girl.”
He revealed their breakup in October 2024, writing via Instagram that he felt it “beneficial for both of [them] to go [their] different ways” due to “an incredibly hard year personally.”
LaPaglia, who was “blindsided” by the musician’s decision to publicize the split, divulged details about Bryan’s allegedly emotionally abusive behavior in a November 2024 “BFFs” episode.
“The last year of my life has been the hardest year of my life dealing with the abuse from this dude,” she told listeners at the time. “I’m still scared right now because I’m scared of him.”
While the Grammy winner did not directly react to his ex’s claims, he reposted a cryptic Jack Kerouac quote reading, “I didn’t know what to say. I felt like crying, Goddammit everybody in the world wants an explanation for your acts and for your very being.”
