Vannessa Cross achieved a lifetime milestone weight after her surgery to remove excess skin, as seen in a preview clip for the Tuesday, December 2, episode of 1000-Lb. Best Friends.
In her first weigh-in with her plastic surgeon following her procedure, Vannessa, 46, stepped on a scale to discover she weighed 195 pounds, after clocking in at 220 pounds prior to the surgery.
“I’ve never been under 200 pounds,” the TLC star gushed in a confessional. “To see 195 on the scale, I am losing my s–t.”
Vannessa was thrilled to find out her weight was going to continue downward, as her plastic surgeon, Dr. David Whiteman, explained, “You’re still going to have some fluid retention from surgery. It’s not going to be your final weight.”
“Oh, I like that!” she responded to the news that she was going to soon weigh less than 195 pounds.
Vannessa reflected on how she wished her late parents were still alive to witness her achievement.
“I never thought I’d make it. I simply feel my mama, my daddy, looking down from heaven and going, ‘That’s my Boo Boo. She made it. She did it,'” the reality star told the producers.
Dr. Whiteman told Vannessa, “From now forward, I want you to start to be basically normal,” to which she asked if she was cleared for “sexual activity.” When the doctor assured her she was, Vannessa told him with a laugh, “I already did it anyway!”
“As anyone knows, even at 450 pounds I was a very sexual woman. At 195, she worse! There ain’t no controlling that woman now,” Vannessa said in a confessional while playfully making meowing noises.
In a more serious tone, Vannessa added, “I worked my butt off to get where I am, but this is just the beginning. I want to ride on slides. I want to ride on rollercoasters. I want to do it all! That’s what’s next for Vannessa.”
The TV personality had mixed emotions of feeling both “scared and happy” ahead of the surgery, as she went through a range of feelings on the November 26 episode of 1000-Lb. Best Friends.
“I never thought I’d be here. But I just, it’s like genuinely scared because anything can happen when you’re on that table,” Vannessa confessed. “Elective surgery is not something you go into lightly and the fact that these people are gonna chop me in half and in quarters and in pieces and take things off – and add things. It’s scary.”
At her heaviest, Vannessa tipped the scales at around 500 pounds. She weighed 448 pounds when 1000-Lb. Best Friends premiered in February 2022. Vannessa struggled to lose 50 more pounds and achieved it during a March 2022 episode of the show, weighing 398 pounds and becoming a successful candidate for bariatric surgery.
Ever since, Vannessa has worked hard to keep the weight off by eating a healthy diet and hitting the gym regularly.
In a January 2023 workout post, she told fans, “Y’all, it’s been a little over 1 year since having [bariatric] surgery and I’ve lost over 100 pounds! I still see the ‘big’ me, but I’m so glad I did it!”
“All I wanted was to be normal,” Vannessa told People in October after undergoing her excess skin removal. “When I lost all my weight but still had that hanging skin, going to gym, every time I ran, you heard the fat roll slapping. People would look. You’re wearing a tank top and you got your bat wings hanging down and they hear ‘pap pap pap.’”
“Now I get to go to the gym and run and have no issues whatsoever. That is amazing. I actually live life now. Instead of being the big person that’s just existing, I’m living,” Vannessa gushed.
