1000-Lb. Sisters stars Amy Slaton and Chris Combs set out to learn if they are related to the British royal family in a teaser clip for the TLC show.
Amy, 37, and Chris, 44, visited genealogist Vickie Fields in a teaser clip for the Tuesday, November 26, episode shared by E! News, where they spoke about the possibility of being related to the royal family after they discovered their British roots.
“There’s no way in hell we are kin to the Queen of England,” Chris said in the clip prior to the meeting. “We’re just good old country people. But I guess we ‘bout to find out today.”
While Chris was skeptical going into the experience, Amy seemed more optimistic about the opportunity to learn about her family’s history. “I like learning about history, regardless if it’s my family or not,” she said. “I really like learning history. I like learning about Harriet Truman [sic], Harriet Tubman, Maya Angelou. That’s a lot of my favorite women. So I love learning that.”
Not only did Amy want to learn about the people she’s related to, but she also said she’s interested in hearing more about “dinosaurs and stuff like that I can get down with.”
During their meeting with Vickie, Amy and Chris were able to learn more about where their British roots came from. “The furthest back I was able to get your family was this guy Hugh Kirkwood,” Vickie explained. She added that Hugh “came over from the U.K. in the 1700s.”
“And if you look right here, it talks about his service in the war,” Vickie continued about Hugh. “He actually was wounded in the Revolutionary War. With that information, and a lot of proof, you can join the Daughters of the American Revolution. You have the pedigree to do it.”
While Amy didn’t learn that she’s related to the royals, she seemed happy with the discovery. “I’m a pedigree bitch,” she declared.
“No wonder why we always fight,” she jokingly told Chris while laughing. “We come from a long line of soljies.”
While fans have gotten to know Amy and her family on personal levels throughout their time on the show, viewers have also gotten to watch their weight loss journeys play out. During the October 29 episode, the mother of two went shopping for her first-ever pair of high heels after losing enough weight to finally be able to wear the type of shoes.
“When you lose weight, you’re not only losing it in your belly, your legs, your boobs, your ass, you’re losing it everywhere, your fingers and feet included,” she said at the time. “I never know my shoe size.”
After explaining that she “always wanted a pair of heels,” she said that it was never possible to buy a pair because she “was never skinny enough.” Amy continued, “When you’re fat and blind, your balance is kind of off, so on the ground is more sturdy.”
Fans watched her try on different heels during the scene, and she later became emotional while reflecting on the experience.
“It’s registering that I have lost weight, and I’m not going to break the damn heel,” the reality star said. “It’s a good moment. I mean, I wore heels for the first time. The fact that I’ve lost so much weight now that I could wear heels and actually want to wear heels to go on a date with is scary in itself.”
