The 2025 Screen Actors Guild Awards, hosted by Kristen Bell, will roll out the red carpet Sunday night.
The SAG Awards honor the year’s best performances in film and television as selected by members of SAG-AFTRA. SAG-AFTRA is the labor union that represents media professionals and performers in the entertainment and media industries. Which means the SAGs are voted on by the actors themselves.
Hollywood largely considers the SAG Awards a crystal ball of sorts, giving insight into who is most likely to take home Oscar gold March 2.

How to Watch the SAG Awards
Netflix is live-streaming the 2025 SAG Awards. The ceremony begins Sunday, February 23 at 8:00 p.m. ET/5:00 p.m. PT from the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall in Los Angeles.
You can catch the pre-show red carpet on Netflix as well starting at 7:00 p.m. ET/4:00 p.m. PT. Lilly Singh and Sasheer Zamata will host the red carpet show, interviewing nominees and discussing fashion.
Kristen Bell Returns as Host
2025 SAG Awards host Kristen Bell is also a first-time SAG nominee. She’s up for “outstanding performance by a female actor in a comedy series” for her Netflix hit series “Nobody Wants This.” Bell’s costar Adam Brody is also nominated for his role on the show. But while it may be her first nomination, it’s not her first time hosting the show. While the SAG Awards began in 1995, the show never had a host until 2018, when Bell became it’s first-ever host.
On her Instagram account, Bell posted a show promo- a spoof of her talking to her younger self about hosting, and being nominated. When she tells “2018 Kristen Bell” that she’s nominated for a SAG, her younger self says, “don’t lie to you.” To which 2025 Kristen Bell replies, “I was just as surprised as I am.”
Who Are the Nominees?
Unlike the Oscars, the SAG Awards include both movies and television, similar to the Golden Globes.
“Wicked” leads the way in the film categories with five nominations, including the night’s most coveted award for outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture. Other nominees include films “A Complete Unknown,” “Anora,” “Conclave” and “Emilia Perez.” All of those titles are also up for Best Picture at the Oscars.
“Wicked” star Cynthia Erivo is up for female actor in a leading role, alongside Pamela Anderson (The Last Showgirl), Karla Sofia Gascon (Emilia Perez), Mikey Madison (Anora) and Demi Moore (The Substance.)
Outstanding performance by a male actor in a leading role nominees include Adrien Brody (The Brutalist), Timothée Chalamet (A Complete Unknown), Daniel Craig (Queer), Colman Domingo (Sing Sing) and Ralph Fiennes (Conclave.)
In the SAG Awards TV categories, Hulu’s programming leads the way with “Shōgun” most nominated, up for five awards and “The Bear” claiming four.
Shows competing for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a drama series include “Bridgerton,” “The Day of the Jackal,” “The Diplomat,” “Shōgun” and “Slow Horses.”
Shows competing for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a comedy series include “Abbott Elementary,” “The Bear,” “Hacks,” “Only Murders in the Building” and “Shrinking.”
SAG Awards Are Unique
The Screen Actors Guild Awards are the only televised awards ceremony that exclusively honors actors. In addition to the film awards often signaling who might take home an Academy Award, the television categories are also thought to signal who to watch for this year’s Emmy Awards.
