2FM’s Laura Fox explains decision to delay wedding to fiancée Brian: 'You only get this chance once'

3 hours ago 4

Laura Fox has been described as RTÉ’s newest ‘it’ girl. Hot off the success of her stint on last year’s season of Dancing With The Stars, the Galway native’s career went from strength to strength, landing her own daily radio show on 2FM amid the chaotic schedule changes last summer, while continuing her dream job presenting one of RTÉ’s most popular series, Ireland’s Fittest Family.

This coupled with Laura’s engagement to partner of almost ten years, Brian Moran has meant an extremely hectic few years for Laura, with the couple ultimately deciding to hold off and not marry until August 2026.

The couple got engaged last August and Laura admits while sometimes she wishes she hadn’t picked a date so far out, ultimately it was the right decision for them at the time.

Speaking to RSVP Magazine, she revealed: “It still feels so far away, we pushed it out to August 2026 because I thought that made sense at the time. Sometimes I think ‘Why didn’t we just do it this year?’ But then I think about it and I’m so overwhelmed.”

“It’s really exciting, I like that we gave ourselves extra time. It just means we can prolong the celebrations and whatnot. You only get this chance once and financially it makes more sense to wait too.”

“I would be way too stressed and my cortisol levels haven’t come down from last year because it was so mental. I’m managing my time a lot better so far this year and I want to keep it that way before it all kicks off next year.”

She joked: “To be fair, we’ve been going out for almost 10 years, so what’s one more?”.

The couple are planning a beautiful destination wedding in Italy, with Laura revealing they both wanted to turn their big day into an extended holiday for both families, explaining: “He’s the last in his family to get married and I’m the first grandchild in my family to get married.”

“We just decided it would be good craic to give everybody a holiday. We have huge families with loads of cousins and I couldn’t imagine not having all of them there. I haven’t actually made a guest list yet, that’s a job for another day”.

However, one thing that won’t be on the list is stressing, with Laura revealing she has learned in recent years to live in the moment and be grateful for what she has rather than worrying about the future too busy.

“I just think you have to put things into perspective and look at the bigger picture”, she explains. “I’ve lost friends and family members, I don’t want to have a wasted day that I look back on and wonder, ‘What I was stressing about?’”
