Some celebrities have their birthday celebrations completely overshadowed by the Christmas festivities.

If there is one birthday that is guaranteed to be completely overshadowed, it is a Christmas Day one.

While Leap Year babies may argue they only get a party once every four years and Halloween babies may feel their birthdays have a running theme, Christmas babies often have to cope with getting "one big present for birthday and Christmas."

That is if people even remember and are not too caught up in the festive celebrations. It is easy to forget that for some people today is a double celebration.

From Pogues frontman Shane McGowan to TV presenter Chris Kamara, many big names have spent their lives blowing out birthday candles before cutting the Christmas cake. Express.co.uk takes a look at some well known faces form different walks of life who all share one thing in common - a Christmas birthday.

Mum of two Annie was born in Scotland and first shot to fame with the Eurythmics before finding solo success. Her androgynous look made her a fashion icon and her hits include tracks such as Sweet Dreams and Little Bird. In 2023, the Eurythmics briefly reformed as they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame. Outside of music she founded Global Feminist organisation The Circle and in March next year she will take part in a fundraising concert for the charity in the Royal Albert Hall.

It is fitting that the man behind one of the best loved Christmas tracks of all time was born on Christmas Day. Shane, who died last year just shy of his birthday, was born in Kent to Irish parents, and spent his early childhood in Tipperary in Ireland. He moved to England with his family at age six and a half. He found fame as the frontman and songwriter for The Pogues and their track Fairytale of New York is one of the most popular festive singles ever.

Danish supermodel and photographer Helena shot to fame in the 90s alongside fellow supers such as Linda Evangelista and Christy Turlington. She famously starred in the steamy music video for Chris Isaak's song Wicked Game, which later featured on MTV's Sexiest Video of All-Time, and was voted number four on VH1's 50 Sexiest Video Moments. It made number 13 on VH1's 100 Greatest Videos. In 2019 she was appointed a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador after four years of dedicated support.

Dido smiles

Florian Cloud de Bounevialle O'Malley Armstrong, better known as Dido, sold 21 million copies of her debut album No Angel which contained the massive hit Thank You. She has a novel workaround for her Christmas birthday. Following the example of Paddington Bear she also celebrates an "official birthday" on 25 June. Most recently she was heard on the ultimate mix of the Band Aid track Feed The World.
