Amanda Holden's 10 wellness rules - from annual detox to gold facials

2 days ago 6

Amanda Holden, television darling and wellness aficionado, exemplifies the art of self-care like no other.

Amid her bustling life featuring slots on Heart Radio and as a Britain's Got Talent judge, she never skimps on her well-being. Plunging into an array of effective treatments and routines, the mum-of-threes downtime seems to be just as important as her public duties.

In discussing her beauty secrets, Amanda, 53, openly shared: "I'm a fan of various creams and potions, too, and lots of water (and wine!), but really I think it's down to genetics. I'm up for anything, though nothing invasive."

Despite appearances suggesting that Amanda's lithe frame and luminous skin result solely from healthy drinking habits and superior genes, the reality is that the star dedicates herself to 10 specific practices to maintain her youthful energy.

So, what's her secret? For exercise, Amanda opts for the gentler approach reports the Mirror, having embraced yoga notably after facing the loss of her son at seven months pregnant and undergoing a harrowing birth with her daughter Hollie.

Yoga

Amanda shared how practicing yoga significantly aided her recovery, stating: "I'm so grateful to my body after what it has been through. I got into yoga because after Hollie was born I'd been on a ventilator and I had a lot of lung problems. Kundalini yoga is all about breath work, so I took it on to build my strength. A lot of people advised me to do it for calmness, too. I don't really sit still, I'm always on the go."

She discovered not just mental benefits but also physical improvements as a result of her practice, adding: "The chanting is really fun, but it's tough. There's one exercise called the Breath of Fire which is great for abs. But it's also a good pick-me-up when you're tired – honestly, it's better than a cup of coffee! My body got strong and any excess fat disappeared. It's definitely made my tummy flatter."

In pursuit of fitness, Amanda is also an avid runner and has engaged in impressive hikes, including Snowdon in 2022.

Lymphatic drainage

Regarding lymphatic drainage, like many celebrities, Amanda swears by spa-like treatments, most notably the SLIMYONIK fat-burning session at D. Thomas Specialist Skin Clinic in London. She documented her experience with this painless process, which uses a high-tech suit known as the BodyStyler to deliver pressurised massage aimed at boosting lymphatic drainage.

Beauty fans keen on a splurge might be intrigued by treatments that start at a hefty £100 per session, mandating at least four sessions. However, there's no need to fret if you're sticking to a tighter budget, as it's possible to DIY the same effects at home.

You can employ gua sha stones or resort to your own hands for manual lymphatic drainage. The aim is to massage away fluids and inflammation from the lymph nodes for a detoxifying effect.

Healthy eating habits

When it comes to nutrition, Amanda certainly seems to have struck gold with her approach, having adopted a diet that champions balance over extreme restrictions. Sharing her thoughts with the Daily Mail, Amanda let us in on her philosophy: "You have to enjoy life. I had a friend once who didn't make it to her 50s and her biggest regret was that she spent her life on a diet. I think a little bit of everything is fine."

"Life's too short to do fat-free, sugar-free, alcohol-free. I don't believe in half-fat anything, I have full-fat yoghurt, butter and cheese. And I splurge on the weekends. I love wine."

Her dietary discipline is apparent, yet she enjoys life’s culinary pleasures without excess. Notably, she has entirely eliminated meat from her diet ever since she turned 13 out of compassion for animals.

Detox

For those pondering a rejuvenating cleanse, remember to weigh all options, including those beyond the traditional detox.

Before Britain's Got Talent filming kicks off, Amanda Holden has a unique wellness ritual – an annual detox holiday. Every year, the beloved judge makes a beeline for sunnier climes to optimise her health and looks before stepping under the spotlight.

This time, she chose Portugal to reset, telling Hello! "It's really good for your mindset, rather like unplugging your computer and plugging it back in."

While enjoying these healthful holidays, Amanda indulges in a detox cleanse, pushing herself to reset physically before diving into the demanding BGT schedule. She shared, "I try to detox twice a year for health benefits, one of them being before the BGT live shows. I'm used to it now so don't experience any bad side effects. I really feel a great benefit. My skin glows, eyes are brighter and there is some weight loss but the most important thing is my mental state."

Beauty 'tweakments'

On upkeep through cosmetic treatments, Amanda's approach has evolved. Shifting away from botox, she now prefers gentler enhancements like CollagenWave facials and Morpheus8 sessions with skincare expert Nilam Holmes.

Amanda took to social media to share her experience with the treatments, writing: "The other week before filming started on the @bgt live shows, Nilam suggested I try a new natural treatment called Morpheus8 ! The results have been absolutely amazing. I've noticed a real plumpness to my skin and it's much tighter! "She has tried CollagenWave, a natural alternative to anti-wrinkle injections and fillers that costs around £130 per session, as well as Morpheus8, a combination of radio frequency and micro-needling that reduces fine lines and scarring, priced between £500-£2,000 per treatment.

Amanda previously discussed her reasons for opting for non-surgical treatments with The Guardian , stating: "I'd never be able to go under the knife because I have a skin condition which means I overproduce scar tissue, but I'm all for anything to make anyone feel better. If they invent something that doesn't involve a knife I'll definitely be having it in the future. I was quoted as saying I'd never use Botox again – what I actually said was: "Never say never", but I haven't had any for months."

Collagen

In addition to these treatments, Amanda swears by Revive Collagen, a liquid collagen supplement that she takes daily to achieve her radiant complexion and healthy hair.

The BGT sensation has often praised the company she represents as an ambassador, sharing her positive experience: "I also won't go without my daily dose of Revive Collagen – it's my beauty essential which keeps my hair, skin and nails looking and feeling their best. It really helps with the thickness of my hair and strengthening my nails, plus it makes my skin more glowy. For me, it's as obvious as putting on mascara!".

Gold facials

Moving beyond just diet and exercise, Amanda is committed to a holistic approach to well-being, actively eliminating negativity from her life. Chatting with the Daily Express, Amanda disclosed: "I don't deny myself anything. I think being happy and confident shines. I've got good people around me, I surround myself with good people, and I put my energy into the people who deserve it. I don't try to people please as much as I did anymore."

She added, "I think all of that really helps you feel confident and helps the glow. If you feel good on the inside you will feel good on the outside."

Indulging in opulent skincare rituals, Amanda enthused about a particularly lavish facial treatment during one of her spa retreats, involving a gold face mask by TheLifeCo. Despite its deluxe appearance, the golden indulgence surprisingly retails at a rather reasonable €90!

The multifaceted facial treatment boasts a set of techniques that include deep cleansing, ultrasonic exfoliation, a rejuvenating massage, an oxygen infusion, and the application of plant-based collagen, all polished off with a luxurious gold mask. .

No to toxicity

Another key component to Amanda's wellness regime is keeping an active intimate relationship with her spouse Chris Hughes, something the radio personality has openly discussed. Speaking candidly on Lorraine, Amanda divulged details about how she and Chris maintain their connection, hinting at the use of sex toys to keep things interesting.

Amanda cheekily informed viewers, "I think I can say that we all know what we're talking about. It's early morning and there are children at home but everyone's got a magic box in their house, somewhere. Full of everything."

Balancing her full agenda, family time remains a cornerstone of Amanda's routine, ensuring she allocates moments for her loved ones, even if it involves day-to-day tasks – a balance she found particularly important during the 2020 pandemic.

Amanda opened up to QVC about her home life, saying: "I work often, and so much of it is away from home, so I've really enjoyed being around, cooking from scratch, having the time to do things like cleaning out cupboards and organising stuff! We've also redone our garden and it's starting to look wonderful. A staycation is definitely more appealing now! I've stayed positive by thinking of all the good stuff, like us being together and enjoying good health."

She added, "Spending more time at home recently, I have enjoyed rosé, eating in the garden, making cakes and allowing myself a few extra calories as a special treat! Factoring in a daily run has made that all guilt-free in my mind."
