Amanda Holden tells mum 'get out' after savage two-word comment to pop star

2 weeks ago 4

Amanda Holden may pride herself on having “no filter” and saying whatever comes into her head but it’s now been revealed where she gets it from.

Speaking to guest Alan Carr on her Heart radio show about hosting this year’s Royal Variety Performance, she recalled how her mum behaved when she met Wet Wet Wet star Marti Pellow.

Marti, who enjoyed a string of Top 20 hits through the late 1980s and early Nineties, had popped into say goodbye to Amanda, 53, after the show was recorded. Amanda said that both Alan’s mum and hers were cooing over the Scottish star, before her mum, Judith, suddenly blurted out: “Ooh, you’ve aged.”

Amanda then ordered her mum to “get out” of the dress-room after the embarrassing outburst.

Marti had been taking part in the show as leader of Lorraine Kelly’s Change and Check Choir, leading the throng in a rendition of his No.1 hit Love Is All Around. Alan said that Marti had been much admired by all the mums in the audience, and joked it resembled “that goat being lowered into the dinosaur enclosure in Jurassic Park.”

Alan congratulated Amanda on having made it all the way through presenting the prestigious show without saying anything rude. “You have got a potty mouth,” he pointed out.

Amanda expressed her pride at having been part of the show yet again, adding: “I’ve worked on Britain’s Got Talent for 18 years and have been so proud watching all our winners perform for the Royal Family. This year will be no different, so in the words of Sydnie Christmas, let’s av it!”

Alan added: "To be able to host this magical evening with my best friend and tv wife Amanda Holden is the icing on the cake for me. If we have half as much fun as we did three years ago, well we are all in for a real treat.”

The Royal Variety Performance, recorded at the Royal Albert Hall in the presence of His Majesty the King and Queen Camilla last month, also features performances from Sir Elton John, illusionists Penn & Teller and this year’s Britain’s Got Talent winner Sydnie Christmas.

The full show – without Amanda’s mum’s shock outburst – will be aired on ITV this Sunday, December 15.
