Brits who have been thinking about keeping an eye on their home while they're away - or fancy another pair of eyes on your home have likely heard of wireless security doorbells. Now, Amazon has an offer that might be worth jumping on but it's not where you may think.
As part of its countdown to Black Friday this November 29 the Prime retailer added a Ring Doorbell discount to its WOW deals section - a part of its site where it hosts limited time offers, but it's cheaper £29.99 deal came with a setback. It's an older wired model, so naturally we found one that was better.
Instead of the wired model, our eyes fell to the 2024 Ring Doorbell deal, which you can currently get for £59.99 - down from its usual £99.99 price that's a £40 saving. Plus, it's conveniently wireless meaning you won't need to wire it to the outside of your door.
It comes with some very significant changes including an in-built battery which means less hassle charging the device and a new latch system so you can pop off the doorbell with ease, and charge up when needed.
According to price checker CamelCamelCamel it's also the cheapest price since the retailer's previous October Prime Sale event, where it was matched at the same £59.99 price. So shoppers can get an added piece of ease that this is genuinely a low price.
I tried the doorbell this year on our sister paper the Daily Mirror and I was very impressed by the changes. The new Ring Video Doorbell which now boasts Head-to-Toe HD which provides the same view that customers enjoy on the Doorbell Plus and Pro models.
You’ll get a 150-degree by 150-degree field of view which gives customers a head-to-toe view of all their visitors and claims you’ll get a 66 percent taller view. However, the real difference we noticed was the lack of HDR on the standard Ring doorbell which makes things like the sky look super bright and almost over-exposed. Pictures look a lot more life-like on the Pro version of the device without the overexposure which was evident on the standard Ring device.

Despite this, picture quality was hard to tell apart on the two models. You do lose some features on the standard model like video pre-roll and 3D motion detection but honestly – 99 per cent of people won’t miss it on the standard model.
Sound and audio was great on the Ring doorbell but I did notice the lack of noise cancellation, which is present on the Pro model but again, nothing you can’t live without.
It's not the only security camera deal going this week, as Black Friday drops the price of rival models too. We've also spotted this Arlo Pro 5 2K set being sold at Argos for £149.99, whike Currys has some Eufy models with £60 off.
