Amy Adams: ‘It Would Be Amazing’ to Portray Taylor Swift‘s Publicist Tree Paine in a Biopic

Amy Adams just might be joining the Taylor Swift cinematic universe.

Adams reacted to the fan-casting of her as Swift‘s publicist Tree Paine in a possible biopic about the Grammy winner. Adams said during “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” that she is more than willing to take on the role, given the fact that she is a Swiftie herself…and even sang karaoke with Swift years ago.

“Uh, that would be amazing. That would be so fun,” Adams said of portraying Paine. “If it got me closer to Taylor, then…”

Adams has been nominated by the Academy Awards six times in total, most recently in 2019 for “Vice.” She most recently is starring in “Nightbitch,” which will be released in theaters December 6.

Becoming Led Zeppelin

Adams explained that she became a “Swiftie at 50” after going to the Eras Tour. “I’m like a shifty, 50, Swiftie,” she said. “And I’m like, isn’t that nifty? And my daughter is going, ‘Oh, I hate this for you.’”

Adams admitted that she has “always liked [Swift’s] music and appreciated her,” but it was the Eras Tour that propelled her to super fandom.

“Suddenly [I] went from like, normal, to like, ‘I’ll take all the friendship bracelets!’ I was like, who am I?” Adams said, adding that she actually sang karaoke with Swift during an after party for an awards show. The duo belted out 4 Non Blondes’ “What’s Up?.”

“I may have sang it a little loud and I’m sure everybody was like, ‘Amy, shut up! We want to hear Taylor sing,’” Adams said. “I had a blast. And now in reflection, if I were to do it now I would be so different. I sang really loud over Taylor Swift, and probably not great either.”

Swift is set to make her own feature directorial debut, as announced in 2022, with Searchlight Pictures. The mega-star wrote an original script for the film. She previously helmed the 15-minute “All Too Well” short film and the Cinderella-inspired “Bejeweled” music video featuring Oscar winner Laura Dern and HAIM.
